ABOUT WARMLEY
Warmley is a village in South Gloucestershire, Bristol. It’s a peaceful parish with its own church and a few local landmarks, including a World War One memorial, a statue of Neptune, and a site for Remembrance Services.
The village’s main road, the High Street, has the essentials: a Tesco, Post Office, and a barber’s.
The local War Memorial proudly bears the names of parishioners who lost their lives in the Great War.
Warmley is also a place of real historical interest. It played a key role in the industrial history of the UK, as it was here that Champion pioneered the commercial production of zinc in Europe. Today, Warmley remains the only surviving 18th-century integrated industrial site in the country, featuring a full range of processes—from smelting metal to producing finished goods.
Just nearby, you’ll find the Kingswood Heritage Museum—the largest independent museum in South Gloucestershire. It’s housed in an 18th-century brass mill and includes an ice house, windmill tower, grottoes, an echo pond, and even a huge statue of Neptune.
There’s also a lovely former pin factory and an old wartime bunker to explore.
