About this property

Traditional Country Cottage

  • 1 Gloucester Cottages is nestled in the quaint mining village of Stanton Drew in the Chew Valley, Somerset, The village is home of the prehistoric Stanton Drew stone circles, the second largest stone circle in Britain after Avebury. The cottage is great for families and couples, it has a fully equipped kitchen and is furnished through out, a king sized bed and double with all linen included. We have fast wifi, parking and an open working fireplace for those cosy nights in with a bottle of red. The cosy feel of this cottage is enhanced by the working fire place for use during the colder weather, where a log/coal basket will be provided. Bath and hand towels are supplied along with fresh bedding and a welcome hamper, milk, porridge, biscuits and condiments.

The bedrooms boast a king size bed and a double bed, both beds come with all weather duvets 2 medium pillows and 2 soft so you can choose your liking. The double bedroom also has an optional single fold down bed, this can be made up by request only. The windows in the bedrooms over look the village paddock, spectacular uninterrupted views can been seen from these windows as the sun sets on the cottage every evening.

There is a bathroom with an over the bath shower, we have included a small amount of necessities should you need them, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrush, bath salts, flannels, hygiene products, hair bands etc.

The kitchen is fully equipped with large dining table, 4 chairs, hob, oven, microwave, toaster, halogen cooker (portable table top), washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. All tea and coffee will be waiting there for you, along with a coffee machine with Costa pods.

The living room has original wooden floors, cosy sofas and as previously mentioned...an open fire. Extra blankets and throws are available there for snuggly nights in. We live locally in the the same village, access to the cottage can be made alone or we can meet you and let you into the property. We respect that some may wish to enjoy their visit in peace, and will not be disturbed. But know we are only a phone call away for any queries. The cottage is spaced out over 3 floors, so as much as young children are welcome please ensure they are watched at all times. Baby gates aren’t available and there is also steep steps to the garden.

New mums: We have a number of things we can leave in the cottage to ensure your stay is as stress free as possible. Upon booking let us know the age of your baby and we will ensure there is age appropriate equipment…all equipment is used at your own risk and we accept no responsibility for inappropriate use.
