A beautifully converted barn adjacent to the owner’s home and located on the edge of Somerset’s Quantock Hills. An ideal spot for couples looking for a peaceful, relaxing countryside break. Situated at the end of a private lane, this 17th-century former cider barn has it spot on for a laid-back and tranquil lifestyle. The property has been tastefully decorated and has plenty of space for two. National Trust properties are in abundance, not just across Somerset but in the neighbouring counties of Dorset and Devon. When it comes to dining you will be spoilt for choice with so many local pubs dotted around the surrounding villages, and if you fancy eating at the seafront you have Watchet Harbour, Minehead and Porlock all very close by.
A very unique way of exploring the Somerset countryside is to hop on-board the Somerset Steam Train. This starts from Bishops Lydeard and goes all the way along to Minehead, and its worth jumping off at Dunster, a medieval village, to visit the castle and mill. If its stunning scenery you are looking for, you must head into the Exmoor National Park, heading high up into the hills where the views will take your breath away. Beach 16 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

I hate giving a bad review but needs must.
I hate giving a bad review but needs must. We were expecting a pub/shop/restaurant in a mile - there wasn't. The nearest by car was on a camp site, and that was a lot further than a mile, and OK if you like that kind of atmosphere (which we don't). There may be a pub over the fields but I wouldn't like to walk back in the dark! As a whole the cottage is quite clean but under the settees there is weeks of dust and even some broken glass. The bedside table lamps need either a good clean or even replacing (I think they have seen better days). On a plus side Ray and Caroline are very nice hosts. Ray even offered to take us to the pub so that we could both have a drink. We do like a BBQ and sometimes the one for use is dirty - this one was in a nice condition and he even left us a bag of coals. Wi-fi is an issue but I don't think the description mentions that it has it.

Lovely cottage, very large garden, but the garden is not enclosed as the website says.
Lovely cottage, very large garden, but the garden is not enclosed as the website says. We had to keep our dog on a lead when in the garden. Chickens, sheep and peacocks are in runs in the garden and there is unrestricted access to the drive and fields. Very nice location with walks to two villages. Amenities are a few minutes drive away. WiFi does not work and TV signal very intermittent, fortunately the weather was good so we spent most of our time out and about. good location to explore Somerset and Devon.
