Our stay was wonderful! The photos really don’t do this VRBO justice. The kitchen was well stocked. Everything was very clean and new. The location is unbeatable for skiing at Killington. Ellen was extremely communicative and kind. She generously left us some local treats for us to enjoy. Only thing to note: if you’re coming in the winter take the AWD/4WD warning seriously. The whole experience was lovely and we’d love to come back again!

Really great hosts! Very welcoming and responsive. Had some nice treats for us and our dog when we arrived. Loved all the dog decor as well. It felt like a home away from home. Our dog loved the back yard. We even saw a few turkeys on the property.

we were not expecting dirt road to the property. with a heavy touring motorcycle the road and driveway were a hazard. car would be totally find. rustic property. close to killington was great for the restaurants. ellen and curtis were lovely hosts. they provided more than the minimum accessories. we had a nice time

What a lovely little place for us and our dogs (3 months old and 14 years old). Ellen was so lovely and welcoming and the area allowed for pups to play off-lead. Very private and beautiful. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts who so graciously shared this little slice of Vermont with us! (The attached pic was taken in Bennington the day we checked out, not at the property. I didn’t want to mislead anyone! The actual property is very quiet and peaceful.)

The Vermont Retreat is a darling place to stay. My son, daughter-in-law really loved the attention to detail and extra welcoming bread and condiments provided. They appreciated the pet friendly retreat and enjoyed their host’s being so helpful with suggestions of the many things to do in the area. My wife and I spent a very pleasant 2 nights here. Ellen had provided excellent directions making the unit easy to find. Ellen was there to welcome us (her home is just adjacent to the lovely converted barn we stayed in).The place was very comfy, with lots of thoughtful touches. Upon entering, we were greeted by a beautifully penned welcome note, along with a locally made chocolate chip banana bread!! Many areas in the flat have automatic night lights, making safety easier for we who appreciate it. The bed was very comfortable The outside has multiple nice garden and seating spaces that we enjoyed.There’s lots of outdoor stuff to do in the area. We did the short hike to Thundering Brook Falls, went antiquing, and saw a free outdoor concert in nearby Woodstock, VT (not THAT Woodstock).I’d highly recommend this place!!

Great place

Really quiet location - nice refuge for a few days to escape the noise from the rest of the world. Great place to see nature up close!! Hope that I can make it back again with my husband next time - perfect size for two people, and I think it dog will love it

Quiet night in VT

Lovely banana bread greeted me when I arrived and there was fresh milk and orange juice as well. A bit off the beaten track, but a lovely one bedroom apartment just right for a weekend in Vermont.

Everything was wonderful. There was excellent communication, the place was clean and had everything we needed for a weekend away. Vermont Ski Weekend

Excellent communication even before we arrived which made everything very clear for us to check in late night. It’s the perfect space for us to relax after a day of skiing at Killington! It was quick drive from their place to the mountain. Ellen and her partner made us and our dog feel right at home. They have truly thought of everything that you could need for the weekend. I have recommended this place to friends, and we will certainly be back next year! Thank you again!

Best stay ever!

Me and my boyfriend came to stay here for a little skiing getaway for my birthday! It was everything and more we could have imagined! It was clean and SO cozy! It also was such a close distance to all of the mountains making our getaway perfect! Ellen was by far the best host I’ve ever had, she made sure we had everything we needed and was so welcoming! Whenever I’m back in the area I will for sure stay there again! Highly highly highly recommend!

Cozy and everything you could need. Really nice kitchen set up and excellent appliances. After a week on the road, the washer & dryer were a welcome refresh of clothing. It's a few minutes west of Woodstock down a country road, so secluded. Takes dogs - wish we had one!

For Those Wanting Comfort and Quiet...

I was travelling solo for fall foliage photography in and around the Woodstock area. I wanted a small fully-contained suite in a quiet location, and this fit the bill completely. The bedroom was a good size with a comfortable queen bed; the living area had a sofa and recliner along with a tv and electric fireplace; the dining area had a good-sized table and food prep area, and the compact kitchen had all the necessities for food prep and storage. In-suite laundry and shower-bathroom rounded out the amenities. There are several windows providing good lighting throughout the suite. The property is quiet and full of trees and birds. Stargazers will appreciate viewing the dark skies right outside the door or elsewhere on the property. It is located in Bridgewater; a scenic 15-minute drive east finds you in the town of Woodstock, or a similar drive west to the Killington ski hills area. It is a perfect central location for exploring the area while avoiding the busyness and slow traffic in the major towns. Woodstock has a large market for all your grocery needs, but it is only about 30 minutes' drive to Lebanon NH if you need big-store shopping. Ellen and Curtis were very hospitable, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this location and would stay there again.
