Guesthouse located in an old school building. Our son loved the big sports hall for playing football. Unfortunately the pool was out of service and we had some bed bugs in the room. Otherwise good value for money.

The space is very unique! I love the remnants of the old school left in the space. The views around the hotel are awesome. Very reasonably priced for Iceland. Good hot showers. Ask the staff about the shared kitchen space, there is a big kitchen hall that is not for public use? We were told not to use it but were not told of the other space prior to going in. Great stay. Worth the price.

We loved our stay! The staff was incredibly kind and the property was so clean. The pool and hot tub were beautiful as was the view. Our room was spacious and right next to the bathroom. There was a dining room with a large variety of food options as well as a full kitchen for guests to use. We had free internet as well. Sorry our stay was only two nights because we would have liked to stay longer!

Disappointingly Inflexible During Dangerous Road Conditions We encountered extremely poor and unsafe road conditions and realized we might not be able to reach Húnavellir Guesthouse on our scheduled date. We contacted the property as soon as possible and asked to move our reservation to another date rather than cancel it altogether. Unfortunately, the guesthouse refused our request, upheld its original cancellation policy, and charged us the full amount even though we were unable to stay. We understand that hotels need cancellation policies, but we expected some reasonable flexibility when travel was affected by Iceland’s unpredictable weather and hazardous road conditions—especially since we were only requesting a date change. This was a very disappointing experience. Future guests should be aware that this property strictly enforces its policy, even when dangerous road conditions may prevent travelers from reaching the hotel safely.

Good place to stay but…

We’re only here for one night so it’s a little pricey for one random week night But oh well We got in too late to enjoy the hot tub so that was our fault but that would have been nice

Bad customer service

We paid separately for a private bathroom. The basin leaked, and we had to use one of the shared bathrooms. The room was poorly maintained and most things and light fixtures did not work. When I contacted the property, they said that everything was fine. I expect Hotels.com to refund the price paid for the private bathroom.

Pros : it was a cheap (for Iceland) option, the staff was very helpful and the hotel was clean. The common area to hang around had TV, a nice spa/TV. Cons : The kitchen was the worse one we've had so far. There was only one cutting knife and board for the whole kitchen (we were 4 to 5 families cooking at the same time). There was a lack of every utensils, pots or dishcloths. No oils, salt or pepper. The room is surprisingly small, we had to put our luggage on the bed to be able to open them as they could barely fit next to the bed when closed. But the worse was absolutely the fact that you hear everything from the corridor in the room, each noisy travelers speaking in the hall feels like it's yelling next to your ear. We had the room next to the shower, so it was also very noisy and people took shower at any hour of the night. We ended up barely sleeping, woke up many times during the night and went to sleep in the car...

Also konnte man weder abtrocknen noch seinen Platz sauber wischen.
