"We had an absolutely fabulous stay - My only feedback is that Ellsworth is NOT 20 minutes away, and Winter Harbor isn't 10 minutes away - it's 45 and 20 respectively, so plan ahead for supplies, it's not as quick of a jaunt to the store as we had anticipated - though there are smaller grocery stores closer than Ellsworth. The Cabin was lovely, the beach was incredible, and the setting was amazing. We will be back! "

"I travel for work so I stay in a lot of hotels. The Machias River Inn is by far one of my favorites! The cleanliness is unmatched, the rooms are updated and comfortable and the river view is so nice. The hotel has a gift shop that has everything you can think of. Another benefit is the restaurant in the same parking lot. The food was phenomenal! Seriously, look no further for your stay, you will not be disappointed! "

"Our family of 5 stayed and had a very nice time. The view from the back was amazing. I wish we had more time to do things around the house instead of just going to Bar Harbor. Great, clear instructions and recommendations were left at the house. There were a lot of breakables that might need to get moved if you have little kids (our youngest is 7)."

"This is a great place to get away from it all. It was really nice to have a place on the water and sit around a campfire in the evening. The house/cottage is very clean, nicely decorated, and well-equipped. There aren't any stores or restaurants nearby, so stop at a grocery store in Ellsworth. There might be some firewood left by others, but it would be best to purchase some camp wood on the way. It is sold by seemingly everybody. Bar Harbor is an hour away by car. "

"Great rustic lodging. Helpful and friendly host. Beautiful area and close to many hiking trails in parks and preserves. Highly recommended if you want simple, rustic lodging with comfortable accommodations (nice bed, everything needed for a compact kitchen to prepare meals, and nice picnic table for eating outdoors). "We loved our stay here. The host offered the perfect amount of communication and was availavle by text if needed. It was nice and secluded with an amazing view of the water and wildlife, yet close to town. "

"Quiet and Secluded. We had a great time sitting around the fire, great memories, very clean, The kids had a great time. The top bunk mattress was fine for my 8 year old but would have been a bit stiff for me. My older son slept on the futon he loved it. Plenty of towels, The water heater is a small one but we could each get nice hot showers if we waited a bit between. It would reheat quickly for the next shower. "

"My wife and I felt very lucky to have found The Miners Den which is a very new creation of a great proprietor who really cares about your experience.The hand built cabin is gently fitted to the landscape of balsam firs and hardwoods with a light touch.It reminded me of the few small cabins in the White Mountains you find along the trails.Everything you need less food is provided.For a couple in their sixties with a friendly dog we will be excited to get back there and see what’s happening.Oh yeah,there’s a real bed!"
