Black Star is a bold, captivating and beautifully appointed home - one of the best in Kangaroo Valley! It is set on a very private 5 acres with stunning views across a resort style pool and sculpture garden to the Barrengarry escarpment. This attractive home sleeps 11, however is not suitable for more than 8 adults . Please do not book for more than 8 adults. The main kitchen, dining and living area has a stunning cathedral ceiling design, with 6 metre-high picture window frames that draw in the view and beautiful natural light. All bedrooms and bathrooms are also sumptously appointed and luxuriously decorated with artworks, sculpture and fine furniture. Black Star oozes style, luxury and relaxation and is a classic a showcase of the power of a clever design and beautiful decor!

Where will I be?
Black Star is located in a very private, yet elevated position on Paddington Lane, about 1.2kms up from the main road. The house location has been carved into the hills, and has spectacular, pristine views of the Barrengarry Escarpment. You are an easy 5 minute drive to Kangaroo Valley, or 25 minutes to the Southern Highlands, yet behind the security gates, facing the pool and the view, you will be a world away from everything!

Wow factor. Awe. Style. Comfort. Luxury. Farm animals to pet. A beautiful pool. Stunning views etc etc. Black Star has it all. If you really want to get away from it all, spoil yourself, or celebrate a special occasion or family gathering, then this is the property for you!
How is the property laid out?
The ground floor incorporates a beautiful, open plan kitchen, pantry, dining and living room (all with amazing views), the master en-suite, king bedroom, a shared bathroom, a queen + single bedroom, and a third queen bedroom. The master bedroom can be opened up to the deck and the views, and has a free standing bath right there - to take it all in!
The upstairs level has a mezzanine style bedroom with a double bed. This bedroom is an open, loft style bedroom, above the master bedroom - FYI.
The ground floor spaces flow out onto a massive sun deck, or a covered side deck, or the swimming pool - making Black Star perfect for indoor - outdoor entertaining!
WiFi, Internet, Netflix, or Pay TV - will I have it?
Complimentary WiFi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that WiFi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If Wi-Fi is important, please therefore always have a back up plan.
What about outdoors?
Black Star is set on 5 acres and as it is a rural property, always take care with wildlife or other dangers, please. Most of the property is covered with mowed lawn areas, and there is also an enclosure for goats and alpacas. Guests are welcome to feed them during a stay.
The massive north facing deck, leading directly to the resort style pool is a key feature of Black Star, as per the photos. Black Star is perfect for indoor / outdoor living and relaxing while the kids swim in the pool or play on the lawns.
Stay warm or keeping cool?
Cooling options include opening up the full width folding glass doors across the entire width of the house to catch the breeze, utilising the numerous ceiling fans, or turning on the airconditioners (one in the kitchen / living area) and one in the mezzanine bedroom area which causes cool air to also tumble down to the master bedroom. Heating options include a wall mounted electric heater in the living room (for quick heat), and a Cheminees Philippe glass box log fire that is the centrepiece of the dining and living area.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
Black Star supplies high quality linen and bath towels.
Parking for cars, etc?
Black Star has open air parking on the circular driveway for 3 - 4 cars. The property has a security gate at the road.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
Black Star is pet friendly, however there are alpacas, mini horses and a goat on the property and so pet owners have to be 100% responsible for not letting your pets run under the fenced areas and chase the animals. This is as much to protect your pet as it is to protect the animals on site. It might be best if your pet is kept on a lead if they are around the animals, especially small dogs. Please also note:
- bring your own dog bedding please
- please clean up after your dog
- any damages or excess cleaning will result in extra charges
Wildlife
Please note that due to the nature and location of this property, wildlife may be about including possums, kangaroos, ants, spiders, bees, wasps and even snakes. We do whatever we can to keep the property safe, however we cannot guarantee that you will not see any wildlife at the property. You must book the property knowing that the possibility of encountering wildlife exists, and you must take care during your visit if walking around the property - please.
What are the minimum stay rules?
Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property
Easter: 4 nights
Long Weekends: 3 nights
All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.
