You wanna live for a few days “Appalachian Style” off the grid - then come on. I stay there a lot with my dog Humphrey Bogart. 3 outdoor cats, the resident mouse hunters (Jake, Elwood and Annie) live there too. Before Covid 19 I frequently hosted large group of friends and Waldhaus Resort Guests here for cocktails and cookouts. Across the street is Mineral Creek with its swimming holes and trout. It’s a most ideal place as a base for extended hiking, mountain biking and social privacy. There is fire pits around down to the creek. Depending on occupancy other areas can be made available (for example laundry room at the Waldhaus). The entire property is about 60 acres, plus a few million, since it is surrounded on 3 sides by the Pisgah National Forrest. Social distance is a natural. Of course, you need to have an interest in off the grid living to enjoy your stay at the Sawmill. All is there for glamming - but with it take a little extra effort and in making you stay work
We loved our first stay so much we had to come back. Hans is a great host and his spaces are well appointed, off-grid reprieves perfect for a short refresh or a hard reboot. The trails nearby are well established and maintained but not busy or crowded. If you want to wander in a storybook wood and get lost in the beauty and wildness of the Pisgah Natl Forest I would highly suggest booking a stay at one of Hans’s properties!
