"Fatima welcomed and attended to us as if we were family. Deonilde delivered fresh bread in the morning and did our laundry. The view was spectacular, especially poolside. Well equipped kitchen, two modern bathrooms and yes, the Wifi works! Other than the first night dinner out, we enjoyed eating on the lovely terrace."

A big shout out to her neighbor who pitch hit for her When she hurt her leg. It’s very close to the train station maybe five minutes by car and it made the right into Douro very very easy."

The place is pretty remote and the road in is a little treacherous, so don't plan to go out at night, but staying home is delightful in this beautiful home."

Absolute paradise

"This was literal heaven. Warm, attentive service, spectacular views, comfortable rooms (even with room darkening electric shades), incredible food, and not a thing overlooked with the tiniest attention to detail that makes this place perfect. They even sock a fridge with wines and beers and offer snacks / tapas during the day if you feel like lounging by the pool and never leaving. They offer a set course dinner which changes nightly as well and the breakfast was so great you really should just park here for days at a time. "

"This was an excellent place to stay. Although the menu choices were limited (2 each of starter, main and dessert) we thought that was wholly understandable given the hotel was catering for around 20 - 25 people per day. The food was beautifully cooked. The rooftop pool was a great place to unwind (with the happy hour drinks between 5 and 7pm) before heading to the restaurant. We found the room to be comfortable and clean (and kept that way during our 5 nights there. Initially, we found the access a little challenging (down a small cobbled track for about 500 - 600 metres) and perhaps more precision about getting there would be beneficial."
