The Space:

Apartment 13 is designed for simple, comfortable beachside living. The interior is warm and bright, with generous windows that bring in natural light and give a soft, filtered outlook toward the ocean. The open-plan layout keeps the apartment easy to use, with the living, dining, and kitchen areas forming one connected space for groups, couples, or small families.



The lounge is arranged for relaxed evenings, with comfortable seating and a clear view toward the landscaped grounds and bay. The dining area sits beside the main window, keeping the living space open and inviting. The kitchen includes stainless appliances, tiled splashbacks, good bench space, and everything guests need for simple meals at home.



The bedrooms are set away from the main living area for privacy. The master bedroom features a king bed and wide windows that bring in morning light. The second bedroom has a queen bed and sits close to the main bathroom, making the layout practical for two couples, friends travelling together, or a family needing separate rooms. Bathrooms are modern, with tiled walls, a walk-in shower, vanity storage, and a clean, functional design.



Apartment 13 offers a quiet, easy base for beach walks, nearby dining, and simple days moving between Onetangi, the vineyards, and the wider island.

The Neighborhood:

Apartment 13 by Stay Waiheke is a flat, easy walk along Onetangi Beach to Charlie Farley’s and the Beach Store, two relaxed local favourites for coffee, breakfast, and daytime meals. For longer lunches or dinner, Ki Māha and Three Seven Two offer seasonal menus and premium beachfront dining.



The apartment is also close to island essentials including the Waiheke golf course, Countdown supermarket, and the popular Saturday farmers market in Ostend. The Onetangi Valley’s vineyards including Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, Te Motu, Casita Miro, Obsidian, and Wild on Waiheke are only minutes away. The Heke, another local favourite, offers wood-fired food, craft beer, and a relaxed garden setting.



Getting Around:

The nearest bus stop is a short walk from the apartment, with regular services running between Onetangi and Oneroa. These buses stop outside major vineyards including Stonyridge, Tantalus, Te Motu, and Wild on Waiheke.



Taxis on Waiheke are very expensive, and private drivers can be costly as well, especially during peak season. E-bikes and hire cars are often the most practical options for moving around the island. For destinations further east such as Passage Rock or Man O’ War, a car or pre-booked wine tour is recommended.



Other Things to Note:

The Sands operates on rainwater tanks, so guests must be mindful of water use, especially in summer.



Smoking Policy — The Sands:

There is no smoking inside the apartment or on the balconies. External smoke detectors are fitted, and any triggered alarm that results in a Fire Brigade call-out will incur a $5,000 fee, charged to the guest.

Smoking is permitted only in the designated picnic area.
