2/10
Unfortunately my wife and I had a very unpleasant stay at our VRBO in Asheville. The location was fine and the check-in process was maybe a bit strange, but no real issue. That's where the pleasantries ended. An itemized list of the issues might be best - 1. The bed was a double rather than the advertised queen2. There was hair in the shower3. The towels smelled like mildew4. There was no hand soap or paper towels anywhere5. The stove had a note on it saying it would likely cause the fire department to be called if it were used and also threatened a 200 charge. 6. There were many insects inside the property7. Overall the cleanliness was not good (see above)8. There is a flashing smoke detector in the bedroom that makes sleeping difficult/impossible for light sleepers9. The window AC units were very loud and didn't seem to cool the space very well10. We tried contacting both hosts and neither answered the phone or responded to texts for maybe 3 hours. At that point, we had already decided to leave the property after one night. When they did reach out, it felt like they were annoyed rather than wanting to be helpful. We had paid for two nights, but left early. I've been in contact with vrbo five times over the course of the week trying to get this resolved, but it's time to move on. All of our past stays in VRBO's have been very positive. I'm disappointed in this stay and in the lack of response from VRBO to get it resolved in a positive manner.
