You’ll experience a wonderful mix of friendly village life and open countryside, with a pub right across the road (50 metres), plus a church and access to gentle countryside walks that showcase the area’s rolling landscapes. The historic market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland (5 miles) is well worth a visit for its independent shops, riverside walks and striking castle. Nature lovers can head to Rutter Force (5 miles) to admire its picturesque woodland waterfall, while Penrith (12 miles) contains a broader choice of shops, cafes and amenities. For classic Lake District scenery, Ullswater and the popular village of Pooley Bridge (both around 15 miles) are the places to go for boat trips, lakeside walks and relaxed afternoons enjoying the water.
