"Great location and very pleasant room. Staff very helpful. Breakfast service was slow, but great food. No lift when we stayed as it was being replaced, so 4 floors to climb, but staff carried luggage. Good value for money. "

"Nice hotel close to centre of the city. Staff friendly & helpful. We stayed in a room in the annexe which was spacious, however the floor particularly in the bathroom was springy & made a loud squeaking noise. The bed was also very hard & had difficulty sleeping on it. Breakfast was excellent. "

"From the outset the reception was chaotic with lots of noisey people. I had to queue for self check-in. I queried why there was a £5 car parking charge when this hadn't been pointed out prior to my booking. I asked why this was and he said because I booked with Expedia. So be careful. The hotel was tired and not worth the money."

"My second stay here in the last couple of months and once again I was not disappointed. I stayed on the main building with a lovely room. I used the gym facilities and instead of dining elsewhere, decided to stay on site and eat at their restaurant. The food was utterly delicious and completely vindicated my decision. A great night's sleep was followed by a cracking breakfast with me fully refreshed for the day ahead. The staff were really friendly and I will be here again when I am next in the area."

"The place was filthy! Whilst the bedding looked like it'd been changed, and fresh towels had been laid, nothing else had been cleaned. There was dog fur and hair all over the floors, the kitchen and all the plates/ cutlery were greasy, and the toilets hadn't even been flushed since they were last used! We also arrived to a broken (low battery) fire alarm. We were staying with our baby. When we enquired about fixing it, we were told to take the battery out or ignore it, with a promise it'd be fixed the next day (not what you want in a 3 storey building). All the other fire alarms had been removed. When we went to look at the battery, we found the fire alarm was 2 years out of date. The battery/ fire alarm was never replaced int eh time we stayed there. When these concerns were raised with cottages.com and the owner, neither accepted responsibility, nor provided any feedback or means of resolution. I hate leaving bad reviews, but since they're ignoring me on all other channels, hopefully this will spur them into some action."
