St. Nicholas church and Znojmo castle
The huge castle of the 11th century, which was often besieged and survived for centuries, was rebuilt in the 18th century as a baroque castle and now serves as a museum and tourist attraction. Znojmo Castle was originally a wooden structure built by Przemyslid Bretislav I, Duke of Bohemia, and built around 1080. It was intended to replace the old castle, which was located through the Granice Valley, as part of an attempt to strengthen the defense. along the Dye River against the Austrian attack. From the new castle you can observe the river valley and the surrounding area. However, in 1140, a wooden castle was besieged and destroyed. By the end of the 12th century, the castle was reconstructed, this time in stone, and included a deep moat. The entrance to the castle was guarded by an octagonal tower called the Robber’s Tower, which collapsed due to neglect at the end of the 19th century.

Clean and modern hotel in Znojmo
Clean and modern hotel in Znojmo. A bit far from city center, 20 min walk, 5 min by car. Public transportation is also available. Room was clean and bed was so comfortable. There is bus stop along the same street. We had dinner in the restaurant with reasonable prices.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir waren 11 Personen und zwei Hunde. Empfang war sehr freundlich und auch der Abschied ging Reibungslos und sehr großzügig von statten. Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig und ländlich. Ideal zum Wandern, ausruhen und Rad fahren. Aber mit dem Auto kann man gut sehenswertes ...
