Loved our stay here, onsen was spectacular, food was exceptional. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. For an authentic Japanese experience this is the place.
We stayed 1 night. Very lovely staff, the experience was great. The onsen was best we’ve seen and we’ve travelled lots, the history makes the stay awesome. We did 1 night, our dinner was very traditional and same with breakfast.
I had the fortune of having a magical hot spring experience in snow. The main pool is breathtakingly beautiful, especially on a snowing night. Really kind staff and great food. One pro tip is that they have a small shuttle to the train station (which we didn't know until after we left) and also delivers bags to a cafe in front of the station.
A great base to visit the snow monkeys. A beautiful and traditional onsen. The breakfast and dinner was served by older ladies that did not necessarily speak English but definitely kept trying to make it an amazing experience each time. The variety of the served food was just overwhelming. So delicious and always something freshly cooked right at your table. An opportunity to stay at traditional Japanese tatami room is a memorable experience. Free pick up from the railway station.
We stayed here for one night and it was such a treat. At first we were unsure about the travel because we started in Tokyo and then we were headed to Kyoto and this added another 8 hours or so of train travel (over two days). That said, we were determined to see the snow monkeys and to stay in an authentic ryokan, so we did it and I am so glad we did!! The travel turned out to be relaxing and part of the adventure. The snow monkeys were awe inspiring and the ryokan was a beautiful experience. The food was delicious and the service even better. My teenage girls loved the uniqueness of it and my husband and I felt very relaxed and taken care of. I highly recommend this hotel!
High Accessibility
The hotel is near the Yodanaka Station, it takes 5-10mins walk. If you will drive over there, the hotel will provide the free parking. Also, they were so nice to clean up the snow every morning.
Also, it may take 15-20mins walk to the Shibu Onsen.
For skiing, it can take 30mins driving to Shiga Kogen. It takes 45mins driving to Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort.
Hotel provided a delicious meal and kids friendly. They provided a different set for the kid.
The Onsen is large enough and very clean. It opens for 24 hrs. It was so appreciated as the Onsen will swap for Male and Female after daily cleaning. So, the guests can use both of the Onsen in different period of time but it is not unisex!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Our stay started off well with a shuttle pick up from the station. The traditional look and style of the Yorozuya is beautiful. My husband and I booked the private spa for 2 hours our first night and it only cost $100 for us both to use. The private spa was absolutely amazing and even though it was modern compared to everything else, I loved that it was a private all inclusive experience that my husband and I could enjoy the baths and sauna together at our leisure. They provide drinks inside too which was very refreshing. The only downsides were the room's furnishings (futon, chairs) and bathrooms needed some serious updating. I suppose you don't use them as much since you're in the the baths outside, but the futons were not soft enough for my back, so it was hard to sleep. The walls and carpeting also need updating and small repairs need to be done (our sliding door's handle immediately fell off when trying to use). The food was also a bit outdated and dinner took forever to complete. Overall, we really did enjoy our stay, but feel there are some easy improvements that could be made to make the experience more enjoyable and comfortable. The staff were all friendly though and breakfast was tasty and much quicker than dinner, thankfully. I would recommend trying this ryokan!
Very accommodating. Explained how the stay would function given it is a ryokan and not a typical hotel. Onsen facilities were beautiful and well kept. Staff is extremely friendly and personable.
We loved our stay. It is a very traditional inn with a fabulous onsen. Don’t go expecting a Hilton Garden Inn. The people were wonderful, the food was fabulous, the whole experience of a traditional Japanese inn was just what we wanted, and better.
The hot spring onsen was truly a treat.
Thank you to the whole staff for making our trip truly memorable, and just what we wanted.
Service is "Japanese style", means extraordinary. Just wow! excellent dinner. Breakfast is less suitable for us, but it was traditional, so expected. Cleaning is just perfect.
A comida é típica japonesa. O onsen (banho quente) é público e é maravilhoso. Ao se hospedar nesse hotel, alem da comida e vestimenta, dormimos no tatame. Muito bom.
