Close to Old Town Alexandria And All Things DC

This is the perfect house for families wishing to be close to Old Town Alexandria or Washington DC. Children will enjoy the large backyard. Wonderful restaurants and a cozy bakery are within walking distance. Parking is free for multiple cars. The Metro is only a 15 minute walk.

The interior design of the house uses high end Danish and Swedish furniture and photos from a world famous drone photographer from Sweden.

Charming neighborhood. Many people walk, run, or walk their dogs in the neighborhood. Nearby neighbors are extremely friendly....feel free to say hello to any of the neighbors.

You can choose to use either the August Home Smart Lock or a key that is located in a lockbox by the front door.

This is a three story house situated in an adorable neighborhood in Alexandria called DelRay. It is a three story house with family room, dining room and kitchen on the main floor. The second floor has two bedrooms and a full bath with shower and tub. The basement has one bedroom, a full bath with shower and tub and a laundry room.

One or two people can also sleep in the living room. The BoConcept L shaped sofa is quite large and can accomodate someone who wants to sleep on a firm sofa. There is also an inflatable Serta mattress with a built in air pump that can be inflated in just a few minutes that can sleep one or two people.

There is a large backyard and a deck with pergola that has a gorgeous teak dining table with stylish outdoor chairs. There is a gas grill so you can grill steaks or some fresh seafood.

For parents with infants, there is a baby crib, a Pack 'n Play, a high chair, and one stair gate.

Easy access to DC, Old Town Alexandria and the Braddock Road Metro Station. Ample street parking right in front of house. 15 minute walk or 3 minute car ride to Braddock Road Metro station. Scooter and bike rentals are located on Mount Vernon Avenue only two blocks from the house.

I am a coffee fanatic so I enjoy providing free whole bean coffee.

Thanksgiving Stay

Our visit to our daughter’s home in Alexandria for theThanksgiving holiday was made super special by our stay at Mark’s house. Mark made the processes of check in and out easy and was very attentive during our stay. The house was roomy and well equipped for our adult family and in a friendly, well kept neighborhood with ample street parking. Having a fenced in backyard for our small dogs was extremely convenient. We would definitely like to stay at Mark’s again on future visits to Alexandria.

Family Washington DC trip

We had a wonderful stay in Alexandria. Everything was accurate to listing. Beds were comfortable and plenty of room for everyone to spread out after long days in DC. Nespresso machine and pods were an added bonus to kick start out mornings. Would recommend a stay here. Close to lots of restaurants.

The perfect place to stay on vacation!

This is a GREAT house in a GREAT location! Super clean and very well stocked! Everything is cozy and aesthetically pleasing - and the coffee set up made us feel spoiled and was super generous! We were close to everything with a short drive and the owner was so kind and had lots of great suggestions. The patio and yard were also very enjoyable! Great for families or friends with plenty of space and parking. We will definitely book again when we are back in the area!

Great Home in a Great Neighborhood

Mark's duplex is a fantastic stay for anyone looking for a long-term stay in a walkable, friendly neighborhood - especially if you have a dog! Communication about access and the location was excellent and proactive. The yard was a great bonus for our dog to run around and enjoy greeting all of the neighbors. We would definitely stay here again!

The neighborhood was safe to the point my family and I could walk to near by restaurants, coffee shops, and drug stores. Neighbors were friendly and the Vrbo was inviting. Additionally, the property manager was helpful and accommodating regarding anything we needed. We would stay again.

The property was as the pictures indicated. Our needs were met. We loved sitting outside. Although we didn't cook, there was plenty of everything if we wished to. The neighbors were friendly. Our host laid out what was expected of us - very little guessing. Overall, we had a fun time.

College Drop Off

We stayed here while dropping off our son at American University. Very cute location, close to Alexandria and easy drive to AU. I grew up in Alexandria, so appreciated the location and how easy it was to visit my old haunts and friends who live in the area. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of room for all of us. Had my parents per for dinner on evening and kitchen had all I needed to make a nice meal. Enjoyable stay!

Wonderful in so many ways. So many nice touches. We loved the decor and the thoughtfulness of so many details. We had 3 main issues. First, the upstairs shower is in serious need of updating and felt like a cheap rental apt from my 20s and the shower head was so low my husband and teen boys had to shower in the basement. Second, the grass was so high in the backyard that we couldn’t use the fire pit or play cornhole. Third, the kitchen was difficultly small. One person at a time. And it serves as the passage to the basement. We worked it out, but 6 people in the house would be tough. Just making sure people can make informed decisions. Despite these issues, we greatly enjoyed our stay and Mark’s ability to host well. It was convenient for our DC activities and had great food nearby. The washer and dryer were a huge help. We would consider staying again. It would be nice though if the basement bedroom had some sort of shelf to serve as a nightstand, and had a smaller table in the room. We loved the August Home door lock app. And the variety of coffee was fun. The house felt very clean. The fan on the back deck kept bugs away and made for a pleasant sit even in mid 80s weather in the evening.

Perfect family vacation

This trip was for family to enjoy the sights of DC. There were 6 adults in our group and this home was perfect for our trip! The home is beautiful and in a nice neighborhood. Check in and check out was seamless. The host provided answers to any questions we had quickly. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and we could have easily eaten all our meals there if we had desired to do so. We would definitely stay here again if needed and highly recommend this home and host. We have nothing negative to say!

Scandinavian Organization and Hospitality

Property was ideally located in quiet residential neighbor...bur only 5 minute walk from dozens of boutique eateries, grocers, and pharmacy. Premisis were extremely well-organized and modern. Access to wireless network and other electronics was simple and without problems. Everything worked like it was supposed to. Clearly a well, and comprehensively conceived and maintained VRBO. Communication with host was fluid and always timely. No issues with any aspect of the stay.

Loved the location

From the description and pictures on the site, I thought it to be a great rate for the location and the looks of the house. Yes, this house does need a deep cleaning. The heating/AC vents are covered with built up dust. The fridge needs a thorough cleaning as well. The one thing that sold me was the 3 king sized beds. However, 2 of the rooms really could use just a queen size bed. I had the basement bedroom a had difficulty getting in and out of bed without crab-walking along the wall. The downstairs bedroom does not have room for a side table to put your phone, a glass of water - or in my case, my C-pap machine. The beds were comfortable and clean. It is an older homer and could use some updates, but I guess that will come with time. The kitchen has limited space, so plan on one cook if you plan on cooking breakfast, etc. The yard needed to be tended to, the grass was high and the patio with the table and chairs were covered with dead leaves. We wanted to sit out there to chill, but would have needed to use towels to cover the chairs after using a stick to remove the leaves from the back of the chairs. I would love to give this property a higher rating, because it is in a creat neighborhood - close to the Metro, good restaurants and grocery stores. One thing I would like to suggest to the owner - put a hand rail at the top of the stairs to the basement - the steps are steep and it would be helpful to someone needing the assistance of navigating the steps.

Poor maintenance and insufficient HVAC

The pictures in the VRBO listing do not depict the property as we found it - in sad need of maintenance and renovation. The house if very cramped and small for the number of guests who supposedly could be accommodated. And the back yard and deck were practically unusable. It appeared no yard work had been done for quite some time and the deck was in disarray.The most troubling problem, though, was the inadequacy of the HVAC system to make the house comfortable. The upstairs rooms were very hot while the basement was like a meat locker. The owner clearly recognizes the problem since the main upstairs bedroom has a window AC unit (not depicted in the pictures) and there was a large floor fan blocking the entrance to the other upstairs bedroom. The basement bathroom shower curtain had mold/mildew and the toilet paper holder was broken.While the proximity to Mt. Vernon Avenue and Del Ray in Alexandria is very convenient, the total cost of the VRBO rental, including required fees, totaling almost 1750 for three nights, was excessive, considering the quality of the accommodations.

I hosted out of town guests and we enjoyed the house. Mark was attentive and helped us out with a TV glitch that we had. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-stocked, and we had plenty of towels. We used the deck, and enjoyed the neighborhood, but felt that the yard could have been maintained better.
