This is an older hotel that has been operating for more than 50 years, and that shows in some areas. The rooms feel somewhat dated. The food was not very good, and the menu options were limited. On the positive side, the staff was helpful, the beds were comfortable and clean, and the rooms were cleaned daily. The location is convenient, with easy walking access to other restaurants and bars along the boardwalk. Those restaurants are not that great either, but they are better than the hotel. The beach water is clear, although beach chairs and umbrellas must be rented from locals. Public transportation is readily available, with vans stopping right outside the hotel that can take you to Kingstown or in the opposite direction for $2.50 EC. This made it easy to reach supermarkets in either direction to buy water, snacks, or other essentials. We stayed in two rooms. It took four days to receive a safe in one of them, so we had to share the available safe during that time. There was also a ceiling leak in room 14, and the water pressure in room 16 was very low.

Do not stay here unless you have no other option. Even then, there are better hotels nearby, Mariners Hotel is far better. We booked a 10 night stay at Sunset Shores Beach Hotel. Less than 24 hours before our flight, they told us they were overbooked and moved us to Paradise Beach Hotel for the first two nights. They would not respond to questions about the change. The room was a downgrade, smelled moldy, had visible mold in the AC, no hot water, and constant smoke from neighboring rooms. After two nights, we were forced to check out at noon but could not check into Sunset Shores until 3 pm, despite this being their mistake. They offered a so called “complimentary” dinner, which later came with undisclosed restrictions limited to the cheapest menu items. When we finally checked in, the AC did not work. We were moved again to their “best room,” which still had mold, broken fixtures, poor construction, and another moldy AC unit. At that point we canceled our stay. Management was never available despite repeated requests. Service was slow, unfriendly, and indifferent. Based on our experience and other reviews, this appears to be a pattern. The operation felt disorganized, dishonest, and unconcerned with guest satisfaction. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

Check in was a problem in that they told us that they had overbooked and therefore reserved us a room in another hotel - but when we got there they had cancelled our reservation and booked us back in to the Sunset Shores. The problem was that they didnt tell us!

GREAT VIEW of the ocean and sunset! Simple beachfront, decent food, rooms were pretty good. Overall, a fine place to stay for a reasonable price, with other restaurants a short walk away. HOWEVER: Be warned. The management doesn't seem to have a high regard for the rights of paying guests. 2 major complaints: (1) We paid a premium price a long time in advance for a good room facing the sea. We arrived and found they had given our room for the first night to another guest! And no compensation was offered. An unethical ripoff! (2) They hosted a wedding all day Saturday. So we could not access the restaurant, and had deafening music (actually shook our windows!) all day and evening until 10pm. Obviously the extra money they made was more important than the rights of paying guests to peace and use of facilities. Other issues: Our door would not lock! Sometimes the food took awfully long to bring out (especially fish kebab - took an hour!) Too bad. Except for the above, we really enjoyed our stay here, and would want to recommend it - but you should be aware of the risks.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Shores Hotel due to the gracious staff and the accommodating stay. Our room was very clean and was cleaned every single day of our stay. The staff were very friendly and the vibes at the hotel were peaceful every day. The hotel also had direct access to the beach which we enjoyed due to the beautiful views. I would stay here again! I think just the food options I'd note would appreciate more local food options for guests!

This hotel was clean and very quiet. I noticed this hotel is for old people or people who are on a business/working trip. There are no activities at the hotel. The ocean is very close to the property to the point there are barely any sitting space has the water comes pretty close to the property. The hotel does not provide beach chairs or umbrellas even though their property is on the beach. The food was decent but quite pricey for the Caribbean. The staff was very nice, respectful and helpful. We met the owner who was very polite and nice. However, this hotel is not for us as it is not geared for young people.

Housekeeping and room - outstanding! Ocean front a little overrated especially during high tide. Office staff first class and professional. Wait staff had 2 of 6 that were attentive and professional. But after several disappointing meals, I ate at other locations along the beach. Some lights along the beach would help for all of the locations off the boardwalk.
