About this property

The Pleinecey Shelter

  • Charolais cattle breeder Armand welcomes you to a charming, authentic 17th-century Brionnais farmhouse, steeped in history and meticulously restored. Adjoining a perfectly preserved former farm outbuilding (now a carport), the farmhouse is perched like a lookout on a hillside, its sunny eastern slope overlooking a bucolic valley of wooded meadows. Enjoy absolute peace and tranquility nestled on the edge of the fields (with, in season, the famous local cows as privileged neighbors), within a picturesque little residential hamlet at the end of a cul-de-sac in the heart of the renowned and magnificent Charolais bocage, dotted with ponds and rivers. The setting is breathtaking, offering complete relaxation and tranquility. A truly enchanting "postcard" setting with sumptuous panoramic views (including the nearby hill of Sainte-Foy). In the heart of the rolling Brionnais countryside (a protected ZNIEFF area for its rich flora and fauna), nestled in a sublime, unspoiled landscape, not far from the banks of the Loire, "Europe's last wild river" (a Natura 2000 site for its exceptional plant and animal life), and the first wooded foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains. This very comfortable and spacious cottage boasts generously sized rooms. Its warm, rustic charm blends contemporary touches with a gentle rusticity, enhanced by the unique character of a former rural home (preserved beams, stone and wood lintels, a rare stone sink, a stone porthole window, and an original wooden staircase). It exudes charm and character. A delightful enclosed garden, meticulously landscaped with flowers, greenery, and lawn, surrounded by elegant historic stone walls, and featuring a large gravel courtyard (which can be used as a terrace or a natural pétanque court), shelters a cherry tree (fruit picking is possible during your stay) and a lovely linden tree providing welcome natural shade in the summer. A true haven of peace and tranquility, boasting a splendid unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside. Composition: Detached house. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Heat pump heating (ground floor) + electric heating (upstairs). Fireplace. The cottage is a duplex on two levels. Ground floor: living room/kitchen, lounge, shower room, separate WC. First floor: 3 bedrooms (each with a double bed 140x190cm), separate WC. Enclosed 400m² plot (garden + courtyard) + gravel terrace overlooking the courtyard + natural pétanque court in the courtyard + carport (2 spaces) + garage (2 spaces) + private bicycle storage. Mini-market 3.5 km away. Supermarket and amenities 14 km away. Absolutely magical and enchanting setting and location! A picture-postcard landscape! Charming, authentic 17th-century Brionnais farmhouse steeped in history - adorned with a pleasant enclosed garden - very carefully renovated into a peaceful holiday retreat, nestled in the quiet of a picturesque little rural hamlet perched on a hillside in a "panoramic viewpoint", in the heart of the sublime Brionnais bocage, 3.5 km from the typical village of Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais (small supermarket on site), emblematic for its famous weekly "Livestock Market" dating from the end of the 15th century (one of the oldest in France, a literal spectacle in itself dedicated to the local Charolais star!) and 14 km from La Clayette (numerous amenities on site including supermarkets), a delightful market town nestled in an amphitheater on the banks of a 30-hectare pond bordered by a majestic medieval castle (dating from 1380), a heritage jewel of Southern Burgundy! Absolute tranquility, nestled in the heart of the rolling Brionnais countryside, mixing agriculture and unspoiled nature, in the hollow of a magnificent preserved landscape of fields and wooded meadows (protected as a ZNIEFF for its rich fauna and flora), not far from the banks of the Loire ("the last wild river in Europe" classified as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its exceptional biotope) as well as the first wooded foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains. Ideally located on the "Cycloroute71" (Saône-et-Loire cycling route), the Romanesque churches circuit, "natural" footpaths, and several nearby marked "green walks" (a rich network of identical hiking trails crisscrossing the area to be explored on foot or by mountain bike), 6 km from a marked mountain bike route certified "VTT-FFC" (linked to a vast network of similar routes radiating outwards across the area), 17 km from the "Véloire" Green Way (running alongside the Loire River and the "Canal Tranquille" connecting Roanne to Digoin / connected to the north to the Canal du Centre Green Way, linked to EuroVelo 6 and the "Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo"), about 40 km from the Côtes Roannaises and the first vineyards of Beaujolais (the world's first vineyard recognized as a "UNESCO Global Geopark"), and about 60 km Côtes Mâconnaises ("Burgundy Wine Route" & Beaujolais Wine Route to explore). Privileged location at the very southern tip of Burgundy, in the heart of the superb Charolais-Brionnais territory, labeled "Land of Art and History" - land of livestock farming & traditions, cradle of the AOC of the world-renowned cattle breed - at the crossroads of the Allier, Loire & Rhône departments, at the intersection of the Sologne & Montagne Bourbonnaise and the Roannais region, not far from the Mâconnais-Clunisois and Beaujolais. 9 km from the medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais, which has the very rare "Most Beautiful Villages of France" label, 16 km from Marcigny ("Cluniac site" known in particular for its Monday morning market created in 1266), 16 km from the picturesque village of Anzy-le-Duc (renowned for its sumptuous Romanesque church, one of the most wonderful in Burgundy), 16 km from the town of character of Charlieu, 26 km from Charolles, 26 km from Paray-le-Monial, 35 km from Digoin (river marina nestled at the convergence of 3 renowned canals including the famous Canal du Centre), 39 km from Roanne, 44 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais) & 52 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny. A soothing haven "outside of the world and time", the perfect "refuge" for an ultra-relaxing "green getaway" with the family! Total escape and rest guaranteed!
