This property lived up to the photos in the listing. It is just charming! There were some serious problems that marred our 4 night stay. The VRBO listing did not provide some essential information that detracted our enjoyment. It came as an unpleasant surprise, after we signed the contract, that the house -- unlike other properties we rented during our May stay in France -- did not include bed or bath linens, which had to be rented from the owners at additional cost. I wonder how many foreigners traveling in Europe pack their own sheets and towels? Continuing the "hidden extra charges" theme, the house was not provided with heating. After complaining to the owner (who lives across the street) after a chilly first night, Christophe refused to turn on the central heating because it would cost him too much, but he did provide a portable electric heater. The temperature hovered in the 50 degree Fahrenheit range while we were there in mid-May so we were forced to retreat to one bedroom in the 7 room house to be warm enough to be at all comfortable. If the house rental did not include heating, unlike the other properties we rented, that should have been disclosed in the contract. It was not. To add insult to injury, the owner charged us for his calculation of the extra cost of the electricity the heater used. If you rent this otherwise "picture perfect" village house, be prepared to be "nickel and dimed to death" by the extremely frugal owners. So much for French hospitality.
