Disappointing experience. Unfriendly staff and run down rooms. We were informed we were being upgraded to one of the newly refurbished lake view rooms. The carpets in the room appeared to be covered in stains (see attached). The jacuzzi in the spa was not working on our second day. I raised this with reception and was told the maintenance team will have a look. It appeared one of the staff members sorted this, however I was unable to maximise the use of the jacuzzi due to the issue. Me and my partner were shocked to see there was no lighting at all in both the car parks in front and behind the aquarium. This is clearly a safety risk especially for guests who are leaving their vehicles in the car park. It may be that the car parks belong to the council or the aquarium, however if the car parks are being used by Hotel guests then you should have considered placing adequate lighting in both car parks. We shouldn't have to use our phone torch to safely navigate to our vehicles. You will clearly see the area is very dark on a night with several potholes, and this is a safety risk. There is also a lake just metres away and someone could quite easily fall over the edge. No smart tv in the newly refurbished premium room. The list could go on, however I will leave it there. I emailed the property prior to submitting this review to allow them an opportunity to comment, however its been a week and no response received.

Lovely hotel on the banks of the lake. Spa including indoor pool, sauna & steam room along with changing facilities. Staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Only downsides were breakfast was small portions, the veggie sausage was amazing but the veggie bacon not so much. There were many rooms that had been refurbished but ours wasn’t one of them, so the decor was a little dated & the fabric sofa needed a good clean. Nice touches in terms of information about the local area and bottles of water at the bedside. Tea, coffee & hot chocolate making facilities in the room and room service available with a fee per delivery. Thanks for having us!

Lovely hotel with lovely traditional decor. We had a room with the beautiful lake view. Spacious, very clean room & bathroom. All Staff very helpful. Davinia, Dave & Alex at reception very nice & friendly. Food was Very good. Special thanks to waiter Andrew who brought us a plate saying "happy 40th anniversary" in chocolate. Spa & pool was lovely and relaxing. Boat cruise to Bowness was also relaxing and very interesting.

This is a lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is situated close to the lake with lovely gardens. Road leading to the hotel is narrow and twisty. Would stay here again if I was visiting this part of the country again.

We were a little disappointed by the Lakeside Hotel. We felt that there was a lack of warmth and friendliness from some of the staff, and no real interest in ensuring we had a good stay. The initial check in was quite cold and business-like, and throughout our stay many staff dealt with us in quite a disinterested way. There was a fire alarm which woke us up one night. Having rushed outside, we weren't given any explanation or reassurance, and were just told it was ok to come back in. When we checked out, we werent asked how our stay was, we were just told there were no charges. There were some exceptions, but overall throughout our stay we felt the service lacked warmth. We also weren't impressed by the food. At breakfast on one day, our food was both overcooked and cold by the time it reached us, which was about 30 minutes after we'd put in our orders. In fairness it was much better the next day when we went at a quieter time, but I would expect the quality of the food to be consistent (particularly given the cost) even if it takes a bit longer when it's busy. The positive was the bed which was really comfy. It's a shame as the hotel is in a beautiful locaton, but I feel that there is a waste of the potential for this to be a place we'd want to return to.

Lovely room and stunning views, very clean, ev car charging really useful, good food, most of the staff really helpful. A really enjoyable stay, but some areas need attention..we had a non working fridge, which was replaced and no longer fitted into the cupboard, so it was left alongside and was very noisy whilst trying to sleep, which we had to unplug. We did mention this at reception, but it was still there when we left. Shower spray not working, reported, but not fixed. Some parts of the property need maintenance and a mix up on the settling up of the bill when we left.

We enjoyed a weekend stay in a lake view room last weekend. We arrived early and was provided with a car parking permit to allow us to then explore the area before checking in. Our room was excellent. It was large, warm and the bathroom had underfloor heating. Once checked in, we explored the spa which was great. A small swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna and steam room were just what was needed on a relaxing weekend away. We had made reservations for the Ruskins restaurant in the hotel. The service and food was excellent and we really enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was also excellent. There was a buffet selection of pastries, fruit, cereal, yoghurts etc and we also ordered from the menu. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing weekend away.

Had a fabulous 5 days here. Staff were very attentive and professional at all times. Rooms clean and food, both breakfast and at dinner was extremely good. Only criticism was the wifi in the room we had which overlooked the lake was very very poor.
