We had a delightful weekend at Woldert-Spence Manor and their breakfasts are truly a gourmet delight! The property is so much fun and the location was wonderful for visiting all of the Tyler sites.
We loved the innkeepers, Mike and Barb. They really made us feel at home. Breakfast was wonderful. We had an early morning flight and had to leave by 7;30am. But they were up for us and had packed food for the plane, Loved our conversations --learned alot!
We had a wonderful stay at Woldert-Spence Manor. We were treated to a personal tour of the house while there. Every room is tastefully and beautifully furnished. Everything we could have expected was available. We very much enjoyed our time visiting with Barbara and Mike. Your knowledge of the home and town was very informative. Thank you for sharing the charm of days gone by.
We enjoyed our time here very much. We loved the historical stories and facts shared about the home. We had great conversations over excellent breakfast each day. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Will stay here again when we return to Tyler.
The owners are lovely people. They took good care of my needs, and filled me in on some of the unique things about this historic home. It was filled with beautiful furnishings. Excellent hospitality.
Loved our stay! The owners were super nice, and they explained in detail up front how to park and about security, etc. The house and garden are darling with tons of cute things to look at. Definitely not a boring, generic hotel. Breakfast was top notch! Like any building from the 1800s, the rooms are smaller than now and floors creak, but it has GREAT character!
What we liked?...
1) The owners Mike and Barbara greeted us with smiles as we drove in. Barbara showed us to our room, explained the keyless entry system, and gave my husband & me a tour of the amazing historic manor. The owners were friendly and informative throughout our stay. (We feel like we have gained 2 more friends.)
2)The house is clean and well kept, and very beautiful, with a lot of ornate woodwork and stained glass, period The well manicured grounds were interesting to look at.
3) The peace and quiet; it made us feel like we were staying at Grandmother's house. We slept very well both nights. The bed was quite comfortable. The shower strong and hot. The A/C worked well. NO STREET NOISE. Our room was upstairs. It had a covered balcony facing the west. It was nice to sit out there after dark to chat and unwind after a busy day with family events.
4) Convenient and walkable location to downtown, ETX craft brewery, and the Cathedral. Short drive to the Rose Garden and other venues.
5) Personalization... We had some activities that we had to leave early each morning, and they accommodated our schedule with our request for an earlier light breakfast, and the next day, a simple grab and go sack breakfast and coffee to go. The food was fresh, tasty, and delightful. The "go sack" had fresh fruit and a wonderful homemade english muffin with a soft poached egg. YUM!
6) Safety- Fenced yard and parking, key code entry into house.
*We would stay here again when in Tyler.*
Barb and Mike are the friendliest owners. Breakfast is amazing and plentiful. House is well taken care of. Jacuzzi is hot! Beautiful place to relax close to DFW.
Paid for this over a month in advance and when we arrived, the place was closed and the owners were out of town! Had to find a new hotel at the last minute. We ended up driving another half hour South and staying at a hotel.
Great B&B in Tyler, TX. I visited two nearby craft breweries on my visit to Tyler. Barbara (B&B owner) was very nice and accommodating. I enjoyed my stay here and plan on coming back again.
