Excellent spot and such a beautiful quiet place. So close to cider mills and wineries as well as the center of Ithaca for restaurants and attractions. New favorite spot for a quiet weekend away.
This property was a tranquil, beautiful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Cornell graduation weekend. It was super clean and very comfortable. It was great to enjoy some quiet time with family in this serene setting.
We really enjoyed our stay. Great location that was close to all of the outdoor activities we wanted to do. The property was peaceful, secluded and relaxing which is exactly what we were looking for. Would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful time! House was just what we wanted. Loved that we were could go out for some day trip activities and come back and relax. Very cozy, and welcoming home. We played some of the games and just relaxed. Lots of restaurants near by.
We enjoyed our stay at the Bee House. Comfortable bed, beautiful views and fast internet! Would recommend a bigger TV and better couch setup so more than one person can enjoy. Otherwise, it exceeded our expectations.
We had a lovely stay at the Bee House. The house was very clean and spacious. We loved the large picture windows and enjoyed the view of the grounds. Shirley is a great host and was incredibly easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay at the Bee House again next time I am in the Ithaca area.
The location was great, within 10 minutes of great hikes, good food, and so many wine or cider locations to choose from. The house was very clean, quite, and was the perfect weekend get away!
The owners were friendly and great to work with. Also loved all the pottery Shirley made that was in the house.
We had a fantastic stay in this Trumansburg house. We cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful house and grounds. It was such a joy, every morning, to look out at the woodland and bubbling river. Very peaceful. Well appointed. Even though it was cold and rainy for one of our days, it was still such a pleasure. We cannot wait to return.
Loved our view and the accommodations were great, gorgeous kitchen, grandson loved the big master bed and the organ. The area is wonderful. Spent time sitting by the creek and relaxing . Definitely on our return list . Thank you
I believe this is the 5th time we've stayed at Bee Cottage. We are so happy to be able to visit and stay in such a lovely well cared for property. We come up every year to spend 2 weeks visiting with family, and we look forward to this trip every year. Shirley and Rich have made a cottage that feels like home and we hope to return for many more years. They are the best hosts ever
Reuniting with old friends at the Bee House was the perfect setting for relaxation and conversation. The house is comfortable, and the setting is beautiful. Everything we needed to make meals and sleep well was provided. Shirley is a great host and even showed us her pottery studio. We enjoyed her artistry and all of the thoughtfully chosen artwork on display in the house.
What a wonderful house we happened upon. Everything we needed was provided and more, and the handmade touches made it feel all the more special. We especially loved the views from the large windows and sitting on the balconies and riverside chairs as the weather allowed. Everything was comfortable and bright. Add in easy communication with our hosts, and this house is hard to beat. If we’re ever in the area again, we’d love to stay right here. Thank you!
A lovely light-filled space. Very comfortable & private. We loved our week here in this special & well designed cabin with a deeply personal touch in Shirleys pottery, musical instruments, & art work. Lots of wild life around & books to identify. Several outdoor spaces to sit & read or watch the birds. Yoga mat provided for early morning session on the balcony. We enjoyed evenings around the fire pit or by the creek & just a few minutes drive to the charming little town of Trumansburg.
We normally visit the area in the fall and stay at a place on the lake. This time we decided to try spring and couldn't stay where we normally do. The Bee House was so comfortable and peaceful. You feel like you are in a secluded area yet you are about 20 minutes from Ithaca and not much further to Watkins Glen. This is a great place to stay to visit the west side of Cayuga Lake and the east side of Seneca Lake. Hiking, waterfalls, gorgeous gorges (!), and wineries, cideries, and breweries all nearby. We loved how all the many windows let in the natural light, which makes you feel like you are in a treehouse overlooking the creek. We enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning and wine in the Adirondack chairs by the creek watching the sunset. Great little kitchen, too, with beautiful pottery made by the owner. Would definitely stay here again!
The Bee House was a peaceful, pristine little house, perfect for our short visit to see our son at Cornell. A 15 min drive to Cornell and right near the quaint town of Trumansburg with so many great dining options, the house was in a perfect location. Shirley keeps an impeccably clean house- no shoes allowed which is how we live at our own home. Beautiful wood flooring, cozy bedrooms, and nice layout. tons of light and views from the walls of windows overlooking the running creek behind the property. Shirley makes gorgeous pottery and leaves a little gift for guests. It was just such a nice little place -we will return!
My family and I stayed at the Bee House for several days at the end of August 2023 as part of a wider trip through Upstate NY and Niagara Falls. The house and the scenery were beautiful. Decorated with the homeowners' artwork, and large windows overlooking the creek and picturesque greenery, the seclusion was very satisfying. My wife loved going on the deck in the mornings with a coffee to breathe in the serenity. We capped off our trip with smores by a campfire in the yard.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The homeowners were wonderful and communicative, everything was very clean, and the house was fully supplied with anything you could need. We will definitely return if its available next time we are heading through the area.
Photos do not do the house and the surrounding area justice! The house was very nice and well maintained. My family loved it. The creek is gorgeous! We saw two deer drinking water while sitting on the lawn chairs. It was a view the city life can not offer. All the amenities were provided. Owner was easy to reach via app. I recommend everyone to stay here. We were able to go all around Seneca Lake. The location is very close to Toughannock State Park. The waterfall is a view none should miss. Anyone who chooses to stay here, please do yourself a favor and take a walk around the area early in the morning. The sunrise over vast fields and mountain is a sight to behold. Overall, 10/10.
We had a wonderful time staying here. Our kids (ages 4 and 6.5) loved having a big yard, woods, and creek to explore, and we loved the peace and quiet and connection with nature. The location was perfect for us - rural, but 7 minutes drive to Trumansburg, 20 minutes to the center of Ithaca, and 20-30 minutes to all the hiking and swimming (and some wineries) we could want!
