Another great stay for me at Ryokan Shigetsu. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Location is unbeatable and the property is well-maintained. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. Would definitely love to stay here again and again.
Great way to experience a traditional ryokan. If you get a traditional room be aware you will be sleeping on the tatami without a real mattress. It was very firm. You can also book conventional beds for an extra charge I believe.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Took our bags up for us, which was nice.
We stayed in several other cities during our travel to Japan. This was the best accommodation due to its location, clean and elegant amenities, and very helpful and friendly staff. My family felt welcome and comfortable. We would stay here again and would recommend to our friends.
This ryokan was excellent-George very close to the temple and metro station in Asakusa. The staff were very helpful giving us great restaurant recommendations.
The room itself was spacious – by far the most spacious we’ve had in our two week trip. We really struggled in some places – especially the business Hotel with space .The hot baths at the top of the building were excellent.
I would definitely stay here again. This was our favourite accommodation.
This traditional Japanese hotel is in the center of Asakusa and near the shrine. Lots of vendors for shopping and people watching. The Japanese people are very gracious and respectful, and our hotel staff was excellent! I enjoyed experiencing the Japanese tradition of sleeping on the floor, however, it was hard on my hip joints because I am a 65-year-old female and I like to sleep on my sides. The subway system is very close by so you can travel through the city.
Perfect stay. The facility was clean, staff were always friendly, and location was convenient. It is in Asakusa but the street it’s located in is quiet.
Traditional Japanese inn located a stone throw from Senso-ji temple. Our room contained futons and floor seating in the Japanese style and was immaculately clean. Shigetsu offers single gender communal baths which provide amazing views. Staff are helpful, friendly and polite. I strongly recommend this inn. I will stay again if ever in Tokyo.
Excellent ryokan in central Asakusa. A beautiful and quiet shelter in a busy neighbourhood. Staff is very friendly and facilities were great! Enjoyed my stay!
Wonderful hotel in a great location. Senso-ji is just outside the premise. Tokyo skytree is nearby. Subway nearby so access to other places in Tokyo sites were easy. Plenty of stores and restaurants nearby. Hotel was clean and staff were all excellent in being helpful. We had our luggage forwarded from Kyoto and it was seemlessly taken care of. Luggage was already brought to our rooms ahead on check in. Variety of local snacks with the coffee and tea station in the lobby was greatly appreciated. The public bath is a hot tub soak and not true Onsen but still nice for those who want a soak. We had the larger tatami room next to the public bathhouse on the top floor. Music and voices which could be heard through the walls one night but it was just one group. Housekeeping was daily unlike some of the other hotels we stayed at which only provided it every 3rd night. Overall a great experience!

Good location, excellent customer service, traditional settings, very happy with stay.
Great location, with easy access to Senso-ji temple, food, shopping and transportation. The ryokan’s staff is very kind. Rooms and communal areas are clean.
Unfortunately we stayed at this Ryokan only one night, but all members of the family, included me, wished we could stay longer. The property is in the heart of action (shrine, markets), but at the same time is a bit secluded and surrounds you with calm and peace as you step in. Our room, on the top floor and two separated bedroom and well designed and equipped bathrooms. Everything was new and well designed. In our short stay we managed to use their hot bath facility (fantastic), step on the rooftop for views of the pagoda and shrine and helped ourselves to tea/coffee/snack in the common room downstairs. The staff went above and beyond suggesting us places where to eat, go for Karaoke (including which system to request for more songs in English), and which entrance to use for the subway - since we had many bags and needed an elevator. I highly, highly recommend this Ryokan and for sure we will be back the next time in Tokyo.
We had a lovely stay at the Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu. It was a peaceful oasis close to a very busy tourist area. The rooms were clean and well provisioned. I highly recommend Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu.
The hospitality and kindness from the staff here were excellent. The baths were clean and very relaxing to use, and we will definitely stay here again!!!
Relaxing room. Polite and helpful staff and nice facilities. Extremely close to Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Street. Perfect location! Would definitely recommend!
We really loved this hotel. The onsen was lovely. The staff were fantastic going above and beyond to make us comfortable. The room was clean. The amenities were fantastic. The coffe in the lobby was very good. The location was great for being in the heart of everything. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a traditional Japanese experience.
