Magical!

Wonderful location for the first of hopefully many trips as a large group of friends (inspired by my dad’s trips with Terence’s friends below!). Dinner on the promontory terrace overlooking the river was truly spectacular. The pool was refreshing for our week of unexpectedly hot September weather and the hot water for showering was truly impressive. The chateau is an unforgettable vacation spot!

Truly magical

We had a wonderful week at Château de Belcayre, even though some of the weather was a bit damp and cool. Three generations of us, fourteen in all, fitted in comfortably and enjoyed the facilities to the full – swimming in the pool and river, bicycling using the e-bikes provided, canoeing using the Château canoe and paddle-boarding (we brought our own). The château is incomparably charming – from a distance, from its several, and varied, sitting-out areas, and within its walls: fairytale and magical are accurate descriptions. It is also extremely well-equipped, and is presented in a pleasant family manner. Serge and his colleagues were unfailingly helpful on the few occasions that we needed to consult them. Breakfast and dinner literally above the beautiful river on the main terrace, sometimes with the moon shining, were incomparable occasions and are now the happiest of memories. We cannot recommend the château too highly, and hasten to thank the owners for being prepared to share it with us.

Idyllic setting to celebrate a milestone birthday. The chateaux and grounds are impeccably kept. Dinners on the balcony set over the Vezere river were a highlight.

Magnificent family holiday

We had all our near family with us. Great granny and her husband, two daughters their husbands, four grandchildren, three with partners and a five month old baby. What a memorable week in such a wonderful château. It was well equipped with everything we needed. We had a wonderful canoeing day and many bike rides and walks as hours in and by the pool.Thank you

Enchanting Chateau

14 family/friends aged 18 to 77. This chateau is an icon in the community! When locals asked where we were staying, they knew Chateau de Belcayre and had questions. We felt like celebrities staying for the week. Excellent location, making exploring the Dordogne easy. The chateau’s decor is very eclectic and could use some updating but it does not take away from the experience. Chateau de Belcayre is truly enchanted!

Spectacular stay in a wonderful castle

We had 2 groups of 15 people in each of 2 weeks. The castle is wonderful, and Come and the property manager Serge were very helpful. We spent a LOT of time in the kitchen in the evenings, with wine, cheese, meats and breads, and some evening appetizers in the incredible patio overlooking the river. The owner Come set up a chef-cooked dinner for us each week, complete with wines paired to the courses. The chef Jean-Marc did a wonderful job with fancy preparations of Dordogne-area dishes. The area is wonderful of course since many of the major prehistoric sites are quite nearby, including Lascaux, Font-de Gaume, La Roque St. Christophe and the Les Eyzies prehistory museum. The nearby town of St. Leon Sur Vezere is lovely with at least 3 excellent restaurants, and we also found good food quite nearby in Montignac. All of the guets highly recommend a week or two stay here. The daughter of one of my friends is coming with her own set of friends in September. This is truly a 5-star adventure place to stay.

Une semaine de repos dans un lieu unique et magnifique

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ce séjour en famille dans ce cadre apaisant, depaysant et d'une grande beauté. Les soirées sur la terrasse surplombant la rivière sont calmes et un peu irréelles, et la piscine est très agréable.

Wonderful in every way

This an amazing property. Words are insufficient to describe the location, the beauty, the history, and the beautiful grounds on which this amazing chateau sits. We had his our family five adults and we had a great time. Nothing further to say, it’s just incredible, and Come and Serge were very attentive and responsive in every way. Thank you both - it was the highlight of our tour.

Patrimoine du Périgord

Emplacement privilégié pour la découverte de cette très belle région et de son patrimoine. Endroit privilégié pour des vacances en famille ou tous peuvent s'exprimer sans crainte d'un voisinage et la terrasse en avancée sur la rivière est un endroit magique pour les soirées d'été. La piscine d'une très belle dimension et son prolongement par une très grande et belle terrasse sont aussi idéales pour des moment très privilégiés ou tous peuvent se réunir au retour d'une belle visite. Lieu idéal pour famille ou des amis. A recommander.

Beautiful castle in great area of Dordogne

Real castle beautifully situated on the river edge with nice & private outdoor areas and pool. Indoor & kitchen facilities complete although somewhat dated. All in all we had a great stay. The communications with the owner and local caretaker were pleasant and efficient.

Un voyage dans le temps

A défaut d'un voyage à l'international, nous avons fait un voyage dans le temps dans cette spendide demeure. Ce château à taille humaine est une bulle de bonheur. Tout est fait pour être dans le calme, la sérénité. Sport, baignade, balade sont les activités à faire sur place. Très bien équipé. Nos ados ont adoré. A refaire sans hésiter.
