"TLDR: Over $700 in surprise charges after a weekend stay; poor, untrained staff and unclear parking/incidentals policy. I was charged a $40 incidental hold and told a $10 parking fee applied for the whole stay; staff didn’t collect vehicle details or provide explanations. My keycards later stopped working; the desk shrugged it off as a “new system” and said it would “probably” happen again. I checked out by 10:56 AM but found over $700 charged to my card by 3:00 PM. No manager was available on Sunday and staff gave vague answers. Unprofessional handling and unexpected fees—avoid if you don’t want surprise charges or untrained employees."

"The hotel was not in an area where there were a lot of shopping or restaurants nearby. There were a few, but it was not in a metropolitan area - which was fine for us. We were going to visit friends nearby and then to Washington DC for a visit. The outdoor pool was closed, unfortunately. Breakfast was just okay. Processed eggs were fine, if you aren't picky. There was a DIY waffle maker. There were two sets of washer/dryers. Two ice machines and a couple vending machines located in a separate room away from hallway traffic. Parking was plentiful but not secured. Housekeeping was very accommodating to our request for additional coffee pods for our room. Linens and towels were good condition, cleanliness and quality."

"The room had a bad smell and water was coming up from the bathroom floor. Not from pipes under the sink. The bar soap had been used and put back in the box."

"The house was beautiful and we loved the location. There was a driveway that fit multiple vehicles, which was an added bonus in this small town. We’d definitely return! "

"I didn’t realize that my husband and I couldn’t get to the living area due to a steep spiral staircase. I assumed there was another way inside. The host sent 2 links the day we were supposed to check in which I was not able to open. Her response to any inquiries was days later. I asked if we could be refunded but she said I would need to contact VRBO. Will we get a refund?"

"Overall, the location was wonderful. Very easy to get around, the owners were great at communicating how to get on the property and what they expected, and I loved how quiet and private the neighborhood was. That being said, the actual cleanliness of the property was horrendous. I got there later in the day, very easy check-in and access to the property. Phone service in that area is not great so make sure you have all the information you need before reaching the property. Once inside and settled, I noticed a couple strands of hair hanging from one of the bathroom towels. It went downhill from there. Over the next 24 hours, the amount of hair and blood found in the rental was disturbing. It was all over the walls, ceilings, floors, counters, in the bed, on all of the towels. There was unidentifiable dried stuff on one of the towels and all over the bathroom. I hate to write this, knowing that it's going to negatively affect the VRBO property value but it was terrible. The property and location were wonderful and I would have been so happy to stay there if the place was actually clean. "
