"No ocean view. The house is cute from the front when you drive up. There are numerous issues with upkeep of the place. I wouldn’t even sit down for hours. Don’t think you’re gonna sit on a porch and see the ocean. The back yard is overgrown and the deck hasn’t been painted in years. The outside shower is dilapidated with a rotted shower curtain and an old water hose on the floor. The carpet inside the house is nasty. The throw rugs in the kitchen and bathroom need washing.I had to wash the cookware and the plates and silverware before I could cook. I was so disappointed that I wanted to just come home. After about 24 hours I accepted the fact that it was not as I had expected and was way overpriced. After that I made the best of it; ate out for meals and enjoyed myself.With a little money and a few days of work; this house could be very nice."

"Beach view was great, easy access to beach area. House was clean and as pictured other than back porch area, photo pictured big chase lounge, though it had a couch and 2 rocking chairs, 1 was broken and unable to use. Outside needed landscaping done, stairs and picnic table was overgrown with weeds. Landscaping and Materials laid around property made car port area not super welcoming. Hot tub was not cleaned prior to check in, maintenance occurred during stay which was mentioned could happen. Inside house was super cute and well decorated! Kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Overall a good stay, small improvements to outside areas would help tremendously as that’s what you see first upon arrival. Heather communicated as needed during our stay and was helpful with whatever needed. "

"Great location, close to a beach access. Great for pets, very pleasant living area, well stocked kitchen. Must be brief due to limited characters: Rental company told us they could not get in touch with owners to answer a question we posed, we emailed multiple times and never got answer. Outdoor furniture mold stained and rubbed off on our clothes. Sheets on top of beds- had to make them ourselves, no starter toiletries provided. Could not watch live TV our whole stay, 1 night could watch Netflix after several minutes of buffering, night 2 nothing worked. Very pleasant and responsive management company, but could not fix the problem. Could not access the laundry, told after the fact there was a key hanging in the kitchen, but nobody saw key after a whole weekend of staying there, and there were no directions on fridge or email that I could find. Love the beach there, but very frustrating stay for us. Went home missing the Final Four basketball game and with a bunch of wet clothes. I was offered 100 good will in exchange for signing a compensation agreement that I will not disparage or make derogatory comments about the rental company or I can be sued 5000. My goal is not to disparage, but I feel it is important to pass along my experience in order to maintain the integrity of the VRBO platform. For this reason I did not sign the agreement and collect 100 for fear of my intended factual review being misconstrued as "disparaging.""

"From check-in to check-out, the property exceeded my expectations—it was exactly as described in the photos, absolutely immaculate, and fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!"

"The house itself and the location are great. My only criticism it that the master bathroom has no door. The whole thing is completely open to the bedroom. The property management company, however, was not so great. They sent an insanely long contract with standard rental property rules repeated over and over (run that thing through ChatGPT). They don't make the top bunk bed??? Not sure why the person paying 500 per night should have to make it. They only provide one bath towel per guest. Lastly, they make you download their app to get basic check-in instructions. They refused to just email me the door code and wifi info."

"Sawyer's Sandcastle is an absolute gem. We've been coming to OKI for years and this might have been our best experience yet. The house is in a fantastic location for enjoying all OKI has to offer, close to Lonerider Brewery, the Point, and with a convenient beach access just steps away. The house is beautiful, thoughtfully appointed for families, and packed with amenities. Smart TVs in every room, comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen, covered decks with nice seating on both levels and both sides of the house, a golf cart, pool - and pet friendly! The incredibly responsive owner and property manager made for a smooth and enjoyable stay. And we appreciated the well beach shed packed with chairs, a beach cart, sand toys, pool floats, and more. The house also features stunning views of both the sound and the beach - meaning sunrise and sunsets are both spectacular. This property has everything you could possibly want to enjoy Oak Island to the fullest with friends or family. "
