  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

  • The Closed Canyon hike in Big Bend Ranch State Park was completely deserted when we went on a Tuesday in April. We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. Our rooms were on the other side of a highway from the main desk and other rooms. So any amenities that existed, we didn't have ready access to.

The stay wasn't ideal. Areas of the room were dirty, sink and most importantly the bed. When asked for clean sheets. We were told to come back in the morning. Check in was at 4pm. Therefore made the most of what we can.

nice staff, great location to the parks, good place if you are just looking for a place to sleep. If you are looking for something nice and relaxing this is not the place for you. It is on the main road so there is a lot of noise and it was not that clean.

I have stayed here before, but the facility has really been neglected. The toilet didn't flush properly. The area is in a severe water crisis, and the toilet ran all the time. The deadbolt didn't work. The staff was always too busy to listen to problems. The maintenance staff always parked their vehicle outside our room where we were told to park when we checked in.

Great location for hiking in Big Bend NP. Easy to find, friendly staff, clean rooms. Breakfast buffet was great! We found the beds a little too firm for our taste and had some trouble figuring out how to use streaming service on the tv, but everything else was perfect.

Das Zimmer war schön eingerichtet. Sehr freundliches Personal! Ruhig, bis auf die Toilettenspülung des Nachbarzimmers, die man hört. Etwas teuer für die Preis-Leistung, dennoch zu empfehlen.
