Spent a little over a week at Mission Bay Cottage. The house was fantastic! super clean, comfy furniture and deck and all necessary appointments for a great stay. Ray, the owner, was very quick to reply to booking questions, etc. and John Baptiste (the caretaker) checked on us when we arrived and let us know he was available if we needed anything. The air-conditioning worked great as did the internet. This was extremely helpful as we were there at the beginning stages of the Coronavirus and needed to rebook flights etc.
The beach is calm, more rock and coral than sand. There are a couple beach chairs for beach lounging. Plenty of sea creatures to check out. Caught a lot of snapper, etc. No bonefish though; there was a guy down a ways running a gill net, so that might have effected things? Did see other fish and if you walk north to the rocky area near the road, there are all kinds of reef fish, snapper, etc. Tons of remote beaches to explore and Ray's house was a good location for this.
Plenty of places to buy food and groceries in Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound. We flew into Rock Sound, but if i did it again, Governors Harbor would probably be better due to more flights and airlines (this proved true trying to leave the island). We rented a car from a guy named George- fantastic and super easy to deal with.
Anyway, great place and we would certainly go back and stay at mission bay again! Thanks Ray
