Egmont National Park is nestled on the slopes of Mount Taranaki, which is a dormant volcano on the western side of New Zealand's North Island. Even though Taranaki region is easily accessible, most tourists ignore it as it is on a path less traveled. It is a shame as Egmont National Park has beautiful scenery, lush temperate rainforest vegetation and this gorgeous waterfall known as the Dawson Falls! The hike to the waterfall is short but with some steep steps, and the view point above is even more easily reached. If you're traveling in the North Island, Egmont National Park is well worth a visit!

Stunningly beautiful. If you can go Stay at Dawson Falls Mountain lodge if you like nature, food, and quiet natural beauty. Breakfast was simple but delicious too.
