「We arrived the tv in the room didn’t work we were told it was due to a storm but later found out it was the control box. That was it left to our own devices no sorry we were told free drinks were offered but we didn’t receive anything. At breakfast there wasn’t enough room so again left to our own devices to find seating in the cold bar. We were asked at breakfast if the room needed service or a drink we said service but got neither. All in all the staff could do better. 」

「I was a walker arriving at the Nag's Head at 15.30. I was warmly received and shown to my very comfortable room. Although the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday evening, i was provided with a wonderful Chinese meal at a very modest cost. I requested a continental breakfast which was fine. Pick Hill is a lovely small village with a long history, some of which is displayed in the ancient church. 」

「We informed the hotel we'd be arriving early as we were attending a wedding, and they very kindly had the room ready for our arrival. The room was clean and had comfortable twin beds, with a gorgeous view over the village square and Middleham Castle. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. 「Elm tree cottage was the best stay I’ve had in Yorkshire , I visit often and by far the best place I’ve stayed the hosts were lovely and kind and was great to chat too! The location was perfect in a cute little village on a farm close to Thirsk and an easy drive to York. Providing the essentials for cooking and a cozy little cottage too! Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future! 」
