We didn't expect the quality that we received when we booked at the Monte Rosa! We were so pleased- we love to stay in historic places & often they can be less than updated. We had asked for a room with a view of the Matterhorn, not realizing that we booked a suite. And it was worth every penny. Did plenty of hiking all day in the mountains & came back to a very comfortable room with plenty of amenities ( 2 full bathrooms, living area, view of Matterhorn, robes, food & drink treats, and absolutely exceptional staff attention. The restaurant was great, we loved sitting outside. We were there during the heat & kept the windows all open at night to cool things down (no AC in Zermatt). Breakfast was also just spectacular. We'd definitely come again.

Would have been helpful if there was a ramp to the reception area instead of having to carry suitcases up the stairs.
