We enjoyed our stay, but there were several things we would have changed if we could. The one bathroom is on the main floor, but the bedroom is on the second floor. Not great for those who get up in the nigh or have disabilities. The number of notes around the house, all written to help the owners rather than the renters, was overwhelming. We found ourselves counting them one night, and it was about 30. The dishes in the kitchen were old, and some were cracked or chipped. It just didn’t seem appropriate for one of the most expensive rentals in the area. I was disappointed that I actually had to go out and buy soap for the shower. There was no soap, shampoo, or conditioner, which surprised us. When your rental is completed, you’re expected to take your trash with you, strip the bed, have no dishes in the dishwasher, and, basically, leave no trace. However, you pay for a thorough cleaning. Finally, the location is not that convenient for those wanting to access Shenandoah National Park. It’s actually a longer drive to get to one of the park entrances.
All this being said, the hot tub was very nice, and the fireplace was charming. I’m not sure I would stay again, especially with the price charged, but it was clean, easy to rent and access, and it was a quiet getaway.
