Une permanence à l’accueil de la réception serait très rassurante, surtout si l’arrivée à l’hôtel est tardive. La raison est double : 1/ l’hôtel est situé dans la campagne profonde Islandaise sans d’autres possibilités d’hébergement. 2/ le défaut d’une présence de personnel oblige le client à se débrouiller s’il y a une difficulté d’accès à la chambre. Pourquoi : Le code donnant accès à la chambre allouée est théoriquement adressé par mail 24h avant l’arrivée. Pour ma part, cela n’a pas été le cas. Ne pouvant joindre l’établissement (car l’appel téléphone ou mail reste sans réponse), j’ai dû faire intervenir de France mon loueur pour relancer l’établissement afin de me communiquer le code que j’ai reçu 8h avant.

Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche mit vielen Kochstellen - somit keine Wartezeiten wenn andere Personen auch kochen wollen. Toller Freizeitbereich. Der Check in war ein wenig mühsam da wir vorab kein Mail mit Zimmernummer und Code erhalten haben. Einige Anrufe waren nötig um telefonische Auskunft zu erhalten.

This was our first “Guesthouse” experience. There was no staff onsite. They did communicate and respond via email promptly. Checkin was easy. Room was comfortable. Kitchen was well equip and spacious. There was no oven only stove top burners, microwaves or toaster (not a toast we over). Free coffee/expresso/lattes!! Ample frig space. Shared room was very comfortable.

I did not stay at Frosthouse. I cancelled my reservation after I found out that it was not near the airport and did not provide transport to the airport. REFUND MY PAYMENT!

Self check in (can work, but must communicate) 2. no communication prior to stay (didn't answer phone when called number). there was a person on site that was able to get us into our room. 3. atrium was sweltering 4. Check in was terrible. They didn’t send email with code. Had to call Expedia to figure things out which took an hour to figure out. This happened to 3 other groups when we were there. Staff was rude when they showed up later. Terribly ran place!!

Not as promised

The hotel was not at all as the picture shows. My feeling is that it’s not maintained. The staff did not speak English or Icelandic and therefore not easy to communicate. And instead of staying there for the 2 days as was the plan, we left after the first night. And therefore I don’t recommend it at all.

We were not able to stay at this property and had to pay for a different hotel. This property never sent an email with instructions to access the room. Additionally, no one answered the telephone for the service number posted at the desk. We are asking for a full refund.

A new owner, still learning how to run a hotel?

Positive things first: the room was clean as well as the public kitchen, which also had plenty of space, dishes and a working coffee machine. Only negative thing we encountered was that when taking shower at 10:30 in the morning, the hot water ended. The problem fixed by waiting for 5 minutes but maybe the owner could turn the knob in the boiler a bit clockwise :). I booked the room in April 2025 when this guesthouse had zero reviews in Google Maps and in hotels.com. When my trip came closer, I read many reviews about people not getting into the room. I got my code for keybox in the previous evening with no problem. If my eyesight was correct, the hotel is run by an Indian (?) couple (?) who is still learning how to run a hotel. This was still on the old name in Google Maps (fixed when we reported it) and the Wifi has the old hotel name. Just do a well-arranged system (Excel will do fine) to ensure everyone gets an email with the key box code and you will get this over 4,0/5,0 stars. There is no breakfast served (it is DIY) and the voice insulation is not good. These are not actual problems if you know these beforehand.

Very clean. We bought food the previous day and stored it in one of the two refrigerators and ate our breakfast in the kitchen. Dishes and utensils were laid out ready for use and the coffee was a nice bonus. Rooms were nice and spacious, only note is that the shower took a long time to heat up and then was a little difficult to find the right temperature.

La struttura prevede self check-in con codice che non è stato inviato. Abbiamo dovuto chiamare numero islandese (un costo in più) che ha mandato una persona che sembrava ci facesse un favore ad aprirci. A noi ha risposto, altre tre coppie sono rimaste fuori per ore perché il telefono non rispondeva e la persona non apriva. Il giorno dopo l'hotel era chiuso dalle 11 alle 16, nel senso che non puoi entrare nella tua stanza e prendere la tua roba. Alle nostre proteste la signora che non parlava inglese ha prima fatto finta di non vederci alla porta, poi rispondeva "istruzioni" e non voleva farci entrare o usare gli spazi comuni (un cartello dice "fino alle 11 PM" erano le 11 del mattino). Ho visto alberghi trascurati, cose che non funzionano, ma mai, mai tanta disorganizzazione, cattive maniere, incapacità di gestire una cosa semplice. Expedia dovrebbe verificare (vedo molti altri commenti simili), o almeno cancellarli dalla propria piataforma, ma non lo fa

NESSUNA ASSISTENZA AL TELEFONO E IN PERSONA Siamo arrivati alle 21 per scoprire di non aver mai ricevuto la mail con il codice per il self check-in. Abbiamo chiamato l'assistenza attraverso diversi numeri ma non abbiamo ricevuto alcuna risposta. Tutti gli altri turisti che avevamo incontrato avevano avuto esattamente lo stesso problema in quel giorno e ci hanno consigliato di rivolgerci alla casa vicina per avere le chiavi. Nessuna risposta neppure dalla casa vicina. Una signora islandese è riuscita a contattare l'assistenza (una volta sola, dopo di che hanno smesso di rispondere al suo numero), che ci ha mandato una vecchia signora che non parlava né inglese né islandese. La signora era maleducata, diffidente, poco disponibile e per nulla gentile, ci ha ignorati per tutto il tempo, messaggiando con qualcuno che le dava istruzioni. Frasi che ci ha detto sono state scritte col traduttore e rivolte a noi sono state: "where were you so far my dear?" (su Expedia il check-in era segnato entro le 23) e, dopo aver finalmente ricevuto le chiavi dopo un'ora ha detto "people wait for hours and you make noise for minutes". In tutto questo, la camera è sprovvista di acqua calda. Peggior esperienza di sempre.

Das Zimmer waren nicht das schönste, aber zum Schlafen völlig ausreichend. Der Gemeinschaftsraum mit Kochmöglichkeiten war allerdings klasse. Leider wurde der Code für das Zimmer erst nach mehrmaligen Nachfragen übermittelt.

Private bathroom. There are total around 18 rooms, and the shared kitchen is large prividing 5 stoves and 5 microwave oven. Free coffee machine. I like very much as price is reasonable with good quality, wondering why people gave low mark to this guesthouse
