チェックイン時に、ヘアドライヤーの確認を

正に、いわゆる典型的なアメリカ型の「モーテル」です。そういうつもりで選ばれれば不足はないと思います。ただ一つ失敗したのは、チェックインの際、フロントでヘアドライヤーを借りておくべきだったこと。それ以外は、ロケーションも悪くなく、便利なモーテルでした。

First time visiting the area. Upon check in we asked receptionist about some information of ferries to the island. Her response was that she doesn’t know anything about it. This is just poor management. Our room was located right by the staircase so it is very loud and quiet’s down around midnight and then it’s back to noise early in the morning. Room was spacious and seemed clean for the most part. Bathtub was all over hair and disgusting. Don’t count on breakfast as it only offers sugary cereal, bagels and blueberry/chocolate muffins. Also it is in their small office area so just grab and go.

The only complaint I had is that the air conditioning units were quite loud.....but you just put on your noise app on your phone, and it's fine.

This is a great, basic, not fancy clean motel. The location is great for the ferry to Mackinaw, just a few minutes from Shepler's dock. Thanks to the motel front desk staff for giving us good information about shuttles and getting the ferry to Mackinaw Island. DON"T pay 15.00 to park at Shepler's lot, call them and the nice shuttle will pick you up in minutes from this motel. Tip the driver, they are super nice. There is an excellent cafe for breakfast and lunch across the parking lot called the wild blueberry breakfast and bakery. Super short walk. We would definitely stay here again, especially for the price. Nice basic convenient place.

Rolled into a mostly empty parking lot a bit early. Tried to check in 28 minutes early and said I would happily wait. Person behind the counter behaved like I’d asked to sleep at her house. The room was clean. The bed was plastic-feeling. Everything was functional but very old. It was… a last resort. BUT, it felt safe and clean. If comfort or manners are not important to you, it’s perfectly fine.

This motel was decent for the price. A small breakfast of cereal, bagels, muffins, and yogurt, along with coffee and orange juice, was offered, but not until 8 AM. That was late if you were trying to get an early start on the day, which we were. There was plenty of parking available, and the property was generally quiet. On the down side, this was probably the smallest room we’ve ever had, although it was clean and manageable. The air conditioner worked great, but it was very noisy. Finally, the girl at the front desk was so quiet that I could barely hear her. She was polite, however.

It is difficult to get the front desk to answer the phone. The rooms seemed clean. The bed mattresses are very uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was adequate. One of very few affordable places to stay around the Mackinac Island and that is the draw.

Very clean room #206. Staff were super nice. Breakfast eatery next door wuz excellent but very busy. If you have mobility problems, make sure to call hotel directly to reserve ground floor room. NO Eleavator. Shower in tub has no hand grab and we nearly had a disaster. If you like a firm mattress, you will enjoy sleeping on this bed. Grocery store nearby perfect for fresh fruit and booze. Location top of the hill 10 minutes walk down to junk stores and eateries. 8mins by car to casino. I will be a repeat customer.

The motel was ok. Basic continental but we appreciated it nonetheless. The room was basic but clean. Beds were comfortable. Surprisingly quiet. However, the major problem was a bag of food and other items (including a irreplaceable piece of jewelry) went missing while we were at the island. Whether a cleaning person stole it or threw it out is up for debate, but the fact the management has done nothing to follow-up on our calls or emails is infuriating. Compensation should be addressed and this has ruined our entire experience staying at this motel.

Having the breakfast place on the same property was great (and their food was great, too). It would be good if they posted the Internet access code in the room, because when we needed it, the office was closed. The only bad things were the carpet felt kind of dirty and the air conditioner was a little noisy and kept turning off and on frequently all night

We didn’t have time for breakfast, but it was provided. The bed slept great—firm and nice soft sheets. The check-in was great and girl at the front desk was great! Very convenient location too! Very close to the lake!

It’s a good no frills motel that was clean. There’s a free shuttle that takes you to the ferry and it is a walkable distance from town. The staff were very nice. I only thing I disliked was how dim the lights were. I feel like I can barely see with all the lights turned on.

Aurora Borealis is the first motel we have stayed at in years. The experience was so much more that we expected. Rooms were clean. Access was simple and proximity to State Street in St. Ignace was perfect. Don’t be discouraged to stay here just because it’s not a branded chain. While the rooms are spartan they serve the simple purpose of providing a place to stay. Enjoy Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, the Sault Ste Marie and all the other great sites to visit.
