My husband and I stayed for a week with our two teenage children and my in-laws. Definitely a unique house with an open floor plan. Plenty of room for our group of 6 with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
This proved to be the perfect pandemic-safe, quiet, beautiful location we were looking for. Located within the gated Plantation community, surrounded by trees and native foliage, we hardly ever saw or heard anyone else while at the house (maybe due to it being early season). It's maybe a 5 minute walk to the beach on a neat little path. While we were there, we spent some time everyday at the beach, and since it's within the Plantation, there were very few people and easy to find lots of space. And so clean!
We truly enjoyed our stay! That being said, there are a couple of things I would've liked to know ahead of time. First, the photos show an upper balcony outside the two bedrooms in the loft. The doors to the balcony are locked and when I inquired about use of the balcony I was told it is unavailable. This may be unimportant to some, but with this house not being on the water that higher vantage point was a feature that helped me choose to stay here. However, after my initial disappointment I realized it wouldn't have made a huge difference. Just would've liked to know before we chose it. Second, because it is an open floor plan, and two of the bedrooms are in the loft, sound really travels. Easily solved with earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
Lots of convenient features, including the outdoor shower in addition to a hose right outside the door for rinsing off. Great well-equipped kitchen, comfortable places to sit, lots of lighting, games, books etc. Also a great bike path on the Plantation.
We enjoyed a couple of day trips into Apalachicola and a fishing excursion in the bay with Jimmy Maxwell that was a definite highlight (caught enough for 2 dinners!). Also, after having car trouble on the way down from Iowa, got excellent service from BJ's Auto Repair in Port St. Joe.
