Oceanfront Cottage w/ Dock & Mooring - walking distance to Acadia

In a prime location on Mount Desert Island Maine, this property has been lovingly cared for and enjoyed by the same family for four generations. The Cottage was designed and built in 2003-2004 by our father, Caleb, to take full advantage of this ideal spot which has direct access to the water, dock, mooring and gorgeous views of the harbor.

Near the end of a private road on Connor Point, you will feel the peacefulness of a true get-away. Steps away from hiking in Acadia National Park, and yet you are only a 5 minute drive from the charming downtown of Southwest Harbor and 25 minutes from bustling and fun town of Bar Harbor. Feel life slow down as you enjoy your morning coffee on the large deck overlooking the ocean and decide whether you will hike, sail, swim, kayak or shop. Great place for kids with large grassy area, beach combing, and many kid-friendly activities. Ideal for up to 6 adults and 2 children.

Accommodations: Our cottage features clean, open and bright rooms overlooking the ocean, a fully equipped kitchen and all of the modern amenities to enhance your stay. All the modern amenities: washer, dryer, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, satellite TV, DVD, high speed internet (wifi), and heat. Great for boaters with both dock and mooring access.

Nearby Activities: Walk just a few minutes to hiking trails, or drive (or take a free bus) around Mt. Dessert Island where you can stop to hike up mountains, swim in lakes, view the rocky coast, or visit Thunder Hole. You can hike (or drive) up Cadillac Mountain, the highest mountain in Acadia National park, which is one of dozens of mountains to climb. From here you can look down to Bar Harbor and the Porcupine Islands, the Cranberry Islands, and much of Mt. Desert Island

I absolutely loved our stay at Caleb’s Cottage! The location was perfect for our trip. The house and surrounding area were beautiful. I loved sitting on the porch relaxing as the sun went down. Water pressure was fantastic and the showers were nice and hot. The host was super responsive. I would highly recommend this place!

Cabin on steroids - new, clean, but maintains the feel of an old seaside summer cabin. Sitting on the deck, sipping a beverage, watching the tide go in and out - just what we needed.

Most beautiful location. Loved having access to the dock. The house has everything you need especially lots of kid friendly toys and games. The beds are very soft, so if you like a firmer bed, you need to know!

This was our 2nd time visiting Caleb's Cottage and the 2nd time that our family loved out stay. Our sons *(7 & 2) loved having access to the water using the dock and kayak's that we had rented. The house is very comfortable and has allowed our family to create wonderful memories. Being so close to Flying Mountain, the Causeway Club and the new Mini Golf course made the week even better.

Our family really enjoyed staying at Caleb's Cottage. It was comfortable, spacious, and had all the comforts of home. The view from the lovely front porch is beautiful and we loved drinking our coffee in the morning and gathering there to relax after our day exploring Acadia National Park. As seniors we were able to walk from the cottage to "Flying Mountain" where we hiked to the top and back. This property is only about a 20-minute drive to Bar Harbor and other scenic spots in Acadia National Park. We had a great stay!

This was our first visit to Caleb's Cottage and we were so thrilled to pull up and see the house we had hoped for was really ours for a few days! The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen was well furnished as was the laundry room. Sitting on the porch with a mug of coffee was the best! So close to Acadia- some trails within walking distance. We love to come back.

Everything was great. Such a warm and homey feel. The only downside is the front steps are very slippery in the morning. Warn others to be careful as I slipped and fell down the steps

This is our 3rd time staying here. Our family loves it! Looking out at the cove is so beautiful and peaceful. We hike, we rent a kayak for the week, we go to Echo Lake, we enjoy dinner at the Little Fern restaurant at the Clairmont Hotel. We played 9 holes of golf this year at the club down the street. Lots of hiking within walking distance from the cottage. The cottage is very clean and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need. The pictures are exactly how the cottage looks - beautiful. Ben is great and responsive.

The cottage was very well stocked- all the comforts of home. Southwest Harbor is a great, quiet area, but with 5-6 very good reasonably priced restaurants and excellent local seafood, including Beal's Lobster Pier- a must for lobster lovers. Practically walk to Flying Mountain in Acadia National Park, and a great hike! Also great lake swimming at Echo Lake (in Acadia). Only negatives- Bar Harbor is a solid 25 minute drive each way (this was July, with some traffic), the house had a great cabin type feel, lots of knotty pine, but it did creak quite a bit when you walked around. Otherwise, a million dollar view of the cove and a great experience!

Our three generation "family" spent a wonderful week at Caleb's Cottage. The cabin is spacious and the amenities were more than we expected - linens, towels, laundry, dishes, spices, games, small appliances, you name it, it was there. Loved enjoying our morning tea/coffee on the front porch. The cabin was spotlessly clean upon arrival. We all got to do something special during our stay and we did all the activities together - hiking, biking, kayaking, car museum. logging show, boat trip around island, magic show, sea glass hunting, miniature golfing, shopping, and the list goes on. Was wonderful to spend time enjoying the view and spend time with the "family".

This was a beautiful, sparkly clean, well stocked home- linens and dishes, pots and pans (our adult children baked and cooked great meals) dishwasher, washer and dryer, good books, games, sundries were all provided. There were open shelves and large airy spaces and lots of windows, which made the house even nicer. We enjoyed home-made cinnamon buns on the porch one sunny morning. There was a dock and a view of the water that was peaceful and quintessentially Maine. The only reason that this is not a 5 is that it was a little tricky to find, (no one's GPS got it right) and the road is a bit narrow and dark at night; I was concerned when our children were arriving late in the evening. And, although part of our group hiked directly from the house onto great trails, the villagers among us needed to get into a car to visit a town. Also, through no fault of our gracious host, the internet was spotty at best, and sometimes did not work at all. Because we were 6 adults (some were working remotely), we tended to overload the demand. But this is a fabulous home, and we all felt grateful that we got to experience Acadia while staying here. Acadia, by the way, is also a great destination!

My wife and I, along with another couple, stayed at Calebs Cottage for a week. Everything about the stay was wonderful. The view overlooking the water from the porch and lawn is incredible. We had a great time grilling out in the lawn, eating at the picnic table, and watching a seal from the Adirondack chairs. We even saw a deer walk through the yard one day!The cottage itself is beautiful; fairly new, and well maintained. The bedrooms are all plenty big. The kitchen has everything you'd need to cook meals as if you were at home. The appliances, bedding, and furniture are all top notch. A small but nice flat screen TV is provided with Direct TV. Internet is also available over wifi in the cottage. The location is excellent. We appreciated staying in Southwest Harbor, the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island. It is a 25 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor, but we didn't find that to be a problem for us. There is a full service grocery store within walking distance, and a nice town center with a few great restaurants and shops within a few miles. Also within walking distance is a piece of Acadia National Park with a number of hiking trails that provided excellent views. The owner was extremely helpful and has done a great job making sure everything is in order for renters. It was professionally cleaned and prepared (beds made, linens set out etc) prior to our arrival.Overall, this place is a real gem and we highly recommend it! If and when our vacation plans bring us back to Acadia in the future, we will definitely stay at Calebs Cottage.

Immediately fell in love with this cottage. Location, location, location! This beautiful house was situated in just the area right for us and what we were looking for. Saw a lot of the area during our stay, all very nice, but I couldn't imagine having stayed anywhere else. What a relaxing retreat to come back to after our hikes; to sit on the porch, play in the yard, to hang out on the dock...we felt simply at peace. A fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, linens and towels, and a provided for laundry room, fans, and so much more-so convenient to have and not have brought from home-we didn't have another inch of space in the car if we had needed to bring any of the things already provided...thank you! Excellent communication with Ben, who provided local info and suggestions, in paper and email form, both useful and appreciated, and who responded promptly to all questions we had. Enjoyed so many hikes in Acadia, shops, restaurants, and whale watching in Bar Harbor, a trip to Bass Harbor, and Beal's in Southwest Harbor. My highlights: sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, a very early, quiet morning on Sand Beach, sitting on the rocks along Ocean Path while taking in the beautiful views, watching the stars while sitting on the dock at the cottage, fulfilling my dream of roadside lobster at Charlotte's, having my first popover at Jordan's Pond House, and discovering Maine blueberries at Jordan's Restaurant and Cottage Street Bakery and Restaurant! This cottage and its location and all of the surrounding areas was all I'd dream my Maine vacation would be; my first and certainly not my last. Thank you Ben and the Foote family!

This was our first time to Maine and Acadia, it is difficult to select lodging on line. We were very pleased. The house was spacious and comfortable and had everything that we needed. We were also pleased that the location was near so many of the attractions we wanted to see, but far enough away that it was peaceful and relaxing when we returned to the house. I will definitely miss drinking my morning tea on that beautiful porch watching the birds and seals in the bay. We definitely plan on returning.

This is the 2nd time we stayed at Caleb's Cottage. The 1st time was last fall for a few days. This time we stayed for a week with family. The week was so wonderful that we plan to return next June. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need. The kitchen is the best equipped kitchen of any rental I have booked in the past. The view is amazing and just like the pictures online. It is a very peaceful area. We rented a double kayak for the week which I would highly recommend. Ben is wonderful to work with. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us again.
