Canyon Lodge & Cabins - Inside the Park

Canyon Lodge & Cabins - Inside the Park

10/10 Excellent
"Great central location within the park . After a long day of running around the park it was nice to have several food options to choose from so close. We ate at 2 different places and both were very good."

The Virginian Lodge, an Outbound Hotel

The Virginian Lodge, an Outbound Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"This is a very nice place. Looks like it was in old lodge that was renovated very nicely The location was about a 15 minute walk from downtown Jackson hole with sidewalks the whole way. The pool was very nice. The view was also very nice. The hot tub was amazing. The burgers next-door at the saloon. I believe it was called. Billy‘s burgers were pretty expensive but worth it. We did have a small problem with our key card as it kept getting demagnetize by putting our key card close to our phone or credit cards or something. We’re not quite sure but we had to go to the front desk twice to have them redo our cards. The two gentlemen at the front desk were very friendly, welcoming and informative, but need a little work on their dad jokes. All in all I would recommend the Virginian to my friends and family who looked to visit Jackson hole."

"Okay, the cabins may be a little dated but they were huge! And the staff! Some of the most friendly people ever! They truly made the experience great! Loved it here! Great location!"

"No A/C so we brought a fan with us to add to the fan each room is supplied with. We stayed 6 nights and the hotel power failed at least 4-5 times. Usually in the mornings or evenings. During power outages which could last up to 45 minutes, the elevators were not functional which meant lugging luggage up and down from upper floors. We predicted a morning outage and packed late the night before. Sure enough, it was out when we would have been trying to pack out from the 4th floor!"

"I know Jackson is expensive, but this was still a lot of money to stay in a cubby hole in the basement of a hotel. That said, it was a nice cubby hole — the bed was comfortable and the space was clean. My biggest issue was ventilation. Because the hostel is in the basement, it seemed that the sleeping area and bathrooms had very little ventilation. The sleeping area became pretty stuffy at night. The fan helped, but only so much. The bathrooms were clean, but after a shower, I essentially had to get dressed in a steam room because there wasn't enough ventilation to clear the humidity. The shower rooms were also frequently wet, with very limited places to put your belongings. A small bench or chair would make a huge difference so guests don't have to put their bags on the floor or on the toilet seat cover. (My toothbrush took a tumble onto the toilet, so... yikes.) A bench near the lockers would also be helpful for putting on shoes and organizing bags. I also noticed the main doors were often propped open during the day, presumably because of the lack of ventilation, meaning anyone could potentially walk directly into the hostel. There is an additional amenities fee, which I'm not really sure what covered beyond a "free" coffee and the potential use of one of five bikes shared by the entire hotel and hostel. Overall, clean and comfortable, but given the price, I expected a little more. Better ventilation and a few simple additions would make a big difference."
