Total disgrace - they take your money then claim they are not a hotel. No reception and appalling service. Don't even consider booking with this bunch of total wasters!

When I arrived it said there was a reception at the rear. There was nothing but a locked door. I was lucky that there was a fellow guest who could let me in and ring the manager. When I got in the room it was unmade from the previous guest, the sheets where dirty, there were bedsheets in the washbasin, dirty towels on the bed, the two towels that were folded up and put in the wardrobe were stained. The duvet smelled of urine. All in all very dirty and you'd be better going somewhere clean.

There is an arrow pointing to reception but there is no reception. I could only get in back someone took pity on me and rang the manager. The bed is dirty from the last visitor, the sheets smell of urine, the soap in the bathroom is from the last visitor, there's rubbish in the bins from the last visitor. I spoke to someone who appear to be a manager or person in charge and asked about the bed sheets being changed. I had been out and found a key in the room door so I thought they might be cleaning but when I got back in the evening there was no change. Not even the bin had been emptied.

This place is an absolute disgrace and has no right to be listed on hotels.com or any other site. I arrived at the agreed check-in time and there was no reception desk or anyone to help out. I had to phone the number on the board outside and the person (Raj) who eventually answered the call said they don't take bookings through hotels.com and no longer operate as a hotel. They had taken nearly £100 from me the week before. I had to use hotels.com's support line so they could negotiate a full refund. Do not even think about booking a room here - the place looked a right dump and they treat people like crap. It meant my first hour in Southend was a stressful affair and I hope that get banned from advertising online
