Two Story Country Setting

Lovely two story country home. Country setting but only two miles from beautiful down town South Haven. You will here traffic noise. This property offers an above ground pool, a beautiful back yard for the children to play with a swing set. Plenty of parking for boats or trailers. Two large living rooms. A creek in the back for exploring. Also fresh blueberries while in season to pick and eat. You’ll love the privacy of an open fire pit with a gas grill. The two bedrooms are upstairs with one full bathroom down stairs. No smoking in doors. No parties allowed.

First off let me just say the people i rented from where super nice and responded to my messages immediately. My main problem was soon as i walked into the house all i can smell was dog. I had to go buy candles and air fresheners amd still could smell the dog. House felt like the people lived there on a daily basis except for when the had a renter. Also water had a rotten egg smell like well water which i wasnt told about. Honestly i wasnt happy paying 800 for smell of dog for 2 days. Even our cloths smelled like it as if we were playing with a dog for 2 days. Also there was a dirty wash rag hanging from shower curtain yuck! Other than that its very close to lake michigan beach is only 3 min drive from house. Beautiful view of stars in sky at night. And again people were super nice.

Likes and Dislikes

Property located on busy highway with frequent traffic noise. For safety we drove bikes to nearby bike trails. However, there is easy access to beach, parks and shopping. Property shares driveway with host's car sales business. In front is banner supporting ex-president. House is spacious and decorated with pleasant Christian theme. 2 living rooms contain large comfortable sofas and TVs. Queen mattress was soft causing roll towards the middle. Single bathroom stayed busy and we needed to walk downstairs to access facilities during the night. Kitchen cupboards, frig were partially filled with other people's food. This limited storage for our items. Grandkids enjoyed swimming pool and swing set. Pond was under repair so paddleboat was not usable. Blueberry bushes will be enjoyable when they mature but several u-pick farms are nearby. We believed we had rented the house for up to 7 guests and were surprised to learn that the base rate is only for 4 guests (this was not explicitly stated in the listing). There is a $25 per day per person charge for extra guests. We paid $150 for our 5th person and the host has agreed to refund $150 for our 6th guest who was added less than one week before our arrival and then had to cancel at the last minute. Though this trip was not ideal for the forementioned reasons we generally enjoyed our stay.

Mediocre

It is a work in progress. Older house being slowly updated. House is still full of owner’s food, breakable decor and very limited space to put our food and items. Large bathroom space was nice with soap and shampoo however 1/2 used bars of soap kinda yuck! Children’s safety is not up to par. Glass around swing set, pool water not in good shape. Pond was a nice option, but found many hooks and safety hazards. Location great. Owner works next door. Great for communicating but felt like we were being watched. She indicated traffic noise, it was not an issue for us, but we live near a busy road. Overall it was a good time but a little stressful keeping kids and pets out of possible dangers.
