After a full day of walking what a treat the Station House was! Beautifully decorated room, comfortable bed, lots of hot water, the use of the common room, a informative book about the property and local suggestions as well as a cafe of delicious food.

The property doesn't have its own parking. There is free parking available on the street parallel to the entrance but this wasn't clear from the description. I appreciated the keyless nature of the accommodation. The gate lock can be a bit tricky to open. The room was clean and the bathroom was fantastic. They provide some food in the small lounge but I couldn't see anything gluten free.

Bed was very comfortable. Room was very clean. The metal steps/fire escape very steep if you have mobility issues its not good. The bath tub is quite high to get in and out of. The floor in the bathroom gets very wet when you have a shower so gets slippery. Didnt see any staff but was given a number to contact if there was any issues.

This was a comfortable one night stay. Having the large room at the front it was nice to have 2 large windows, a fridge and kettle facilities as well as brilliant shower and heaps of hot water! The staff were super kind (the same person checked us in via the lovely cafe downstairs) as well as hosted us for Sunday breakfast in the same cafe! So we did not see many more staff. The food in cafe was local, well presented and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and they were truly lovely in the cafe. Station house is in a very quiet and sleepy village, so not hustle going on. Timings might be a bit unusual. Overall a nice comfy stay with a great shower and home cooked food. We did not park so cannot comment And the rooms are entered via an outside, metal staircase and codes to get into your rooms - so it can seemingly run efficiently without necessarily seeing many people. Thank you so much for your care and attention!

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at this property. While the cafe staff was lovely, we were not satisfied by the overall state of our room. Everything inside was very tired. It was a particularly hot day and being on the top floor didn’t help, this was unbearable for our dogs so we decided to only stay for one night instead of two. The owner did offer an alternative room but we did not take it. While I understand the policy and our booking being non-refundable, I had to pay the additional fee for our two dogs directly to the owner outside of the app. I requested to be refunded for the fee for the second night but he has decided to simply ignore me (I can see he has read my messages). It is incredibly disappointing considering we pretty much threw £100 down the drain as we didn’t stay the second night, it felt like the least he could do. As a result I would not recommend this property, you can definitely find a more pleasant stay elsewhere.

Disappointed

We were unable to contact to let them know our time of arrival as nobody answered the phone. When we arrived nobody from the hotel was there so we called the number on the door which was answered. After a short while somebody turned up to let us in ,but there was some confusion over the booking as the diary was not available, however we were shown up to our room via an outside metal staircase. On the plus side, our room was very nice,clean and in good decorative order.. when we vacated there was nobody to pay, so I paid the next day over the telephone. The room rate was not cheap and we expected better. It is with regret that I post this review.

Having booked via Expedia and received confmation, the hotel texted us direct to say because we had opted to pay at the hotel, rather than up front, they had accepted another booking that was being paid for in advance. As Expedia had my credit card details, I don't understand why the hotel thought there was any risk to them. At the time it was too late for us to cancel the booking for free. Expedia's 'virtual assistant' is beyond useless and despite saying it would get someone how could help, we never heard anything. It was the first time i have used Expedia, and it will certainly be the last. It remains to be seen if Expedia have charged my credit card.

Great stay

Had an amazing stay. Beautiful local area, very nice recently refurbished accomodation. Lots of nice unusual touches. Water a bit too hot and the pillows could be comfier but those were the only room for improvement. Highly recommend a walk onto dartmoor - a nice easy circular walk from the village up to the resevoir is very nice and around 10m

Really lovely place to stay

Really lovely place to stay. They had thought of lots of little things that made the experience really enjoyable. Parking is free outside after 1800 or all night round the corner. The cafe associated with the accommodation is fabulous and really relaxed.

Avoid

All you actually had was room with a bed and fridge and a kettle. The window was blacked out , no tv, no wardrobe no evening meals and breakfast not served till 10.
