This property is an amazing piece of CA history lovingly maintained by Rhonda & Fred. We stayed in the Hoover suite for one night which was nothing short of magical. Their hospitality is unmatched. The breakfast, the conversations and views from the property are all breathtaking.

The host is AMAZING. She is the kindest!! She makes the most delicious breakfasts I maybe ever had. Her decorations are impeccable and the vibes there are great. There are so many cats there!!! If you love animals you will love it there. My boyfriend and I stayed there for two nights and three days and honestly I want to go back. We went during the summer so it was HOT (we knew that before we got there). She told us the best time to go is in the fall with all the pumpkins and fall vibes and I and am definitely going to come back during that time. I highly recommend going to the Knowles inn. It really doesn't matter when you go. You'll have a good time at any point in the year! :))

Beautiful property, attentive staff, and excellent meals. Arrived on Friday, May 15, 2026 and we immediately impressed with the overall beauty of the property and the views of Sonora below. The building is decorated in as a comfortable 1920's era motif. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering the close proximity. Meals were delicious and served on period china. Staff is attentive without being overbearing. Will definitely be back.

Amazing Breakfast; Comfortable Rooms

Amazing, specially prepared gourmet breakfasts by the host. Very fun to sit at breakfast table with other guests. The breakfast is served at 9 am so you can't just grab it and go if you're there for sightseeing. But the food is wonderful! Interesting history behind the house which the host shares. Beautiful rooms.

This was a definite Experience!!! The Inn was beautifully curated in furnishings of the 1920’s. It felt like stepping back in time. Breakfast was incredible. The host not only provided a perfectly presented gourmet breakfast but also gave an interesting history of the Inn. The property is far enough up the hill to be away from the noise of the Main Street but close enough to all of the eclectic little shops and dining options. This will most definitely be a stay we will repeat and recommend for years to come.
