We absolutely loved our time at Amalu Monteverde. We stayed in the Black Haus and it was superb. The view is stunning and the property is designed to make the most of it with wall to ceiling windows and a great sun deck. We really enjoyed the hot tub (not normally our thing) while the sun was setting and knew that this was one of those places we would never forget and for all the right reasons. The Blackhaus is really well designed with a small but useful kitchen area, a lovely bathroom with a double shower, a really comfortable bed with a bath next to it which we loved, and a wood burner which we really appreciated because it gets cooler in the evening because of the altitude and geography. We also really appreciated the welcome gifts that made everything even more special. If you have the chance to stay here, and are wondering if it really could be that good, please don’t hesitate. It is better than the pictures and an absolute WOW place to stay! I would definitely recommend a 4x4 when visiting the area and the best activity we did was La Tigre Waterfalls which we thought were fantastic (but we love hikes and nature and are not adrenaline junkies!). Amalu will now definitely have a place in our top 10 places we have ever stayed (and quite possibly top 5 or even number 1!!).
