Wow! This was a unique, clean, comfortable and well accommodated location for my wife and I to use as a basecamp for hiking and backpacking in the Bighorn National Forest and the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. It's essential four original hotel rooms connected to make a single living space. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessities and more (e.g., panini press, air fryer...). The spacious laundry/bathroom was great for us to throw a load of dusty hiking clothes in wash before going to bed so we didn't have so much laundry to do when we got home. The bed was very comfortable. I loved the old wooden floors. I'm not sure if we ever had neighbors because the rooms were so quiet.
Cynthia and her husband were great hosts. We arrived to homemade rhubarb muffins, and later in the week, they brought over zucchini bread and oatmeal raisin cookies. When I went to use the gas grill, the tank was empty. I texted Cynthia and in less than 5 minutes it was replaced.
We didn't pull out the couch, but there is plenty of room for 2 more in the space.
Buffalo is a good starting point for a lot of the local trailheads. If you're not into hiking, the town has some unique little shops, including Sports Lure just downstairs that can equip you with pretty much any fishing, hunting, camping and hiking equipment. There are several nice restaurants in town (we unfortunately didn't try any) and a couple grocery stores if you want to cook your own like we did.
We will definitely return!
