"Fabulous room with all those little details missed by so many hotels and guest houses, all present. Fabulous breakfast with quality ingredients from local butchers and bakers cooked to perfection. Lovely couple that ran it too. If I had to find one complaint it would be that we couldn’t stay there any longer. This is a fantastic place to stay and I would highly recommend."

The included Breakfast was good and we additionally ate at the bar for the 3 nights we stayed as there was an excellent and reasonably priced menu. Overall, very impressed and will come again. "

"We recently stayed at The Ocean View Hotel from 13th–15th February and unfortunately were very disappointed with our experience. We chose this hotel specifically because of the facilities advertised on the website, including a swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, evening dining, jazz club with cocktail bar, and the daily “Happy Hour” promotion. These amenities were a major factor in booking what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend break. However, on arrival—and throughout our stay—we discovered that the swimming pool, bar, coffee shop, and evening dining were all closed. There had been no prior notice of these closures on the website or in our booking confirmation email. To make matters more frustrating, there were posters displayed around the hotel advertising “Happy Hour” from 4–6pm daily, despite the bar not being open. Breakfast was also an additional charge, and while convenient, we found that far better quality and more reasonably priced breakfast options were available just a short walk away in the town centre. The lack of communication felt misleading, as the facilities advertised were simply not available. Had we known in advance, we would likely have chosen alternative accommodation. While the stay itself may suit guests who only require a room, (if you don’t mind a bed without a headboard), we feel the hotel should be transparent about which amenities are operational. Clear and accurate information would help manage expectations and avoid disappointment. "

"The hotel was lovely, and Linda & Des were VERY welcoming and accommodating. They have a little “shop” where you can buy toiletries, wine, drinks, crisps, snacks etc which was very convenient. The breakfasts were AMAAAAZING - lots of options! The only down side was the water was not hot and the water pressure in the shower was low."

"Found the room quite claustrophobic with a very small bathroom and basin in bedroom. No food available as I was the only guest staying. Staff were very nice. Do not think I will stay there again. "

"Issues about the room Open the door - strong musky smell even with the window open. On arrival in the room I had to remove 5 spiders (each in different corners of the room) aswell as several cobwebs. Carpet had a massive stain upon entering the room which probably added to the musky smell. Room uninviting and very small for double. Décor was 1970's styled, looking incredibly dated. Bath had large scattered spots of paint so you certainly wouldn't bath in it. Can’t shave as there’s no plug in the sink. Bed side lights 1 of 2 not working. Reported on 2nd day in the am, assured somebody would fix it shortly. Still not fixed on day of departure. Fridge works but very loudly when it kicked in, especially at random intervals in the early hours of the morning. Housekeeping failed to clean the room full stop - day 1 (Fri) not required as working remotely in the room. (Note: Internet advertised as 210+ high speed internet struggled to connect and stay above 10mb whilst continuing to drop out.) Day 2 left at 7:45am didn’t come back til 6pm - room not done. Day 3 out by 8:45 arrived back 5pm to be told room cleaning will be done now. Got back at 7:15 still not done. Received half hearted apologies. Had to ask for toilet roll, coffee, new towels. Had to wait 20+ minutes for new towels as none were prepared. Breakfast options - pretty much non existent. No emergency evacuation plan in the room. Had to work out where emergency meeting point was on our own. Emergency Exit sign above"
