Welcome to Captain Mark's Kajun Kove—a three-level lakefront retreat where the real vacation happens on the water and around the fire pit. Some cabins are just a place to sleep. Kajun Kove is where the trip actually happens.
Tucked into eight secluded, wooded acres along the serene shores of Douglas Lake, Kajun Kove was built for families who live for the water — the fishing, the swimming, and the nights around the fire. With generous lake frontage, your own private dock, and water views from nearly every corner of the property, the lake isn't just nearby — it's your backyard..
🏡 The House Kajun Kove spreads across three levels plus a private garage suite. Every bedroom and the living room has a TV with DirecTV.
The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room with electric fireplace. The screened-in porch opens to a deck with a gas grill and plenty of seating.
The private garage suite comes with its own entrance, full bathroom, and exterior refrigerator/freezer — ideal for storing bait, catch, or extra provisions.
The basement is anchored by a pool table, foosball, and card table. Step outside to the patio where the 5-person hot tub sits beneath the deck with a view straight to the lake.
Bedrooms 🛌 Bedroom 1 — Main floor. King bed. Steps from the screened-in porch and open-air deck. 🛌 Bedroom 2 — Upper level. King bed. Walk-in closet. Private balcony with lake views. 🛌 Bedroom 3 (Loft) — Upper level. Queen bed. Walk-in closet. Shares full bathroom with Bedroom 2. 🛌 Garage Suite — Private entrance. Two queen beds. Full ensuite bathroom. Exterior refrigerator/freezer. 🛋️ Basement — Futon and sofa sleeper for the kids.
Bathrooms 🛀 Main floor — Full bathroom, tub/shower combo. 🛀 Upper level — Full bathroom, standing shower. Shared between Bedroom 2 and the Loft. 🛀 Basement — Full bathroom, standing shower. Includes washer and dryer. 🛀 Garage Suite — Full ensuite bathroom, standing shower.
🌳 Outdoor Space Eight wooded acres means room to breathe. Two fire pit areas give the group options: gather around the main fire pit ringed by six Adirondack chairs and strung with lights, or follow the path toward the lake to the second fire pit — six more chairs, stars overhead, water in front of you.
Keep your eyes open out there. White-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and the occasional black bear call these woods home. Guests sometimes spot them right from the porch or shoreline — one of the quiet perks of having eight private acres to yourselves.
🌼The beautiful backyard garden is a peaceful retreat of its own — a quiet spot to slow down and take in the surroundings between time on the lake.
🏞️ Douglas Lake Ranked a top-ten bass fishing lake and one of the top five lakes in the country for crappie fishing, the water outside your door holds largemouth, striped, spotted, and white bass, along with bluegill, catfish, sauger, and walleye.
🐟Cast from your private dock, hire one of the area's professional striper and crappie guides, or launch your boat from Griffin Island Campground just one minute down the road, and tie up to our dock when the lake is high.
🍂The lake is seasonally lowered Fall-Spring. Our cove fills beginning in March, with the dock typically floating by mid-May through late October and on dry land the rest of the year. During the low-water season, our cove is unique in that it still retains some water, though the view from the property will look partially dry.
❄️The main channel of Douglas Lake remains substantial even in winter, with most areas still around 60 feet deep. Fishing and boating remain great options during these months; And there's plenty more to enjoy — exploring the shale-lined shores, hiking, and biking are all wonderful ways to experience the property and surrounding area in the off-season. The Griffin ramp is accessible year-round. Check the TVA website (Tennessee Valley Authority) for current and expected conditions before your trip.
🐾Pet Policy: Up to 3 dogs are allowed for a fee of $250 per dog per stay . All dogs must be over one year old, potty-trained, crate-trained, and crated when home alone. The number of dogs must be indicated when booking.

WHO THIS HOME IS BEST FOR
Kajun Kove is designed for groups who want the FULL experience, not just a place to sleep.
FISHING ENTHUSIASTS & BOAT OWNERS: Bring your boat, launch at the nearby ramp, and tie up at the private dock all week. Fish from the water or dock. Store your catch in the private refrigerator.
MULTI-GENERATIONAL FAMILIES & LARGE GROUPS: With 4 bedrooms, 7 beds, and 4 bathrooms, Kajun Kove sleeps 12 comfortably. Kids love the game room, hot tub, and dock. Parents appreciate the space—everyone has their own bedroom. Grandparents relax on Adirondack chairs while grandkids splash in the water.
CELEBRATIONS & FRIEND GROUPS: Reunions, birthdays, and group getaways thrive here. Indoor entertainment (game room, TV, dining) and outdoor gathering spaces (fire pits, hot tub, dock) keep everyone engaged.
PARKING Arrival note: the driveway has a few tight corners — take it slow and you'll be fine. Parking for your boat and at least 5 vehicles once you're in. AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended in winter and will be necessary if there is snow or ice.
