Casa Brio is la dolce vita meets Balinese island spirit - a place to gather around the dining table over a delicious feast, accompanied with fine wine and sparkling conversation. The contemporary architecture fuses Balinese open-plan living with an edgy white grid design, allowing a pleasant breeze to flow around the property.

The vast 21m pool bisects the grounds, with a series of sunbeds running across one side and a garden filled with orchids and frangipanis on the other. It's all fringed with a canopy of exotic palm trees. There's space for everyone to enjoy swimming here and a poolside chill area with cushions where you can spend a lazy afternoon.

Spread across two levels, there are charming rooftop garden views all around. The villa has four bedrooms that can sleep up to eight people, plus additional beds for 4 adults. In the two master bedrooms, one opens onto the garden and pool area, while the other has a private terrace where you can soak up the sunshine. Adjacent to these are the guest bedrooms, perfect for families with younger children.

Soft grey furnishings are teamed with dusky pink splashes for a soothing atmosphere, all providing a great canvas for Balinese decoration. In typical heritage style, the bedrooms feature a lot of wood, anchored with colourfully patterned rugs that ripple across the floor and eclectic art on the walls. All bedrooms are equipped with an ensuite bathroom with a natural stone sink and an incredible rain shower. If you're looking to chill out after a day exploring the island, the air-conditioned media room provides an ideal respite. Here, relax on an array of comfortable seating while you listen to music via the Bose sound system, or watch satellite TV.

The villa is conveniently located just five minutes' walk to magical Petitenget Beach and plenty of amenities in Seminyak. Petitenget Beach is a wonderful example of Balinese spirituality. Discover the ancient temple that has twelve shrines and an impressive dragon staircase that leads to an expansive courtyard. Historically, it was called the Magic Box as a 16th-century priest brought one with him whenever he visited the temple. Every evening, there are temple ceremonies on the beach and traditional dance displays - a truly mesmerising way to experience the rich culture.

Seminyak is Bali's premiere upscale beach resort, a playground for jet-setters, fashionistas and yogis. Bali is beloved by yogis the world over, there are plenty of day courses and retreats to try in exquisite studios around Seminyak. It's full of fashionable boutiques where you can shop til you drop and famous for luxurious spas, where you can indulge in a Balinese massage and other treatments.

To delve into Balinese culture, visit the Theatre Art Gallery to get an insight into traditional puppet shows. There are many wayangs (Indonesian puppets) on display here and you can try to catch a show - the whole family are bound to enjoy it. Art lovers will also adore the hip galleries around Seminyak, such as Biasa ArtSpace at the forefront of contemporary Indonesian art such as installations of brass head busts with red eyes.

Hotel Tugu Bali is an interesting museum-hotel hybrid full of priceless Indonesian art and antiques. Here, there's also a fabulous award-winning spa offering traditional Eastern therapies, so it's an ideal place to spend a leisurely afternoon.

Seminyak beach has an irresistible vibe from dawn till dusk. It's popular with surfers across Bali due to the powerful wave breaks. If you'd like to try surfing for yourself, there are numerous surf schools dotted around the island for you to learn from the pros. For sunset, visit one of the many atmospheric beach clubs such as Ku De Ta, Métis and Sarong.

If you're feeling fancy, you can rent a cabana at Seminyak beach and enjoy some of the delicious food on offer. Another popular activity on this beach is horse riding, where you can take a gentle canter across the sugary soft sands, weaving in and out of the shimmering water.

Make a pilgrimage to Pura Uluwatu, a gorgeous 11th-century sea temple, sits on a 70m-high cliff. Every day, there are Kecak fire dance shows that tell the story of Ramayana through dance. The dancers wear beautiful costumes, and visitors wear a sash on the hip to show respect in the temple. Being part of the ceremonies is a really special way to get acquainted with the spirituality of Balinese culture.
