Welcome to The Mermaid’s Song! We’re thrilled you’re here—ready to relax, recharge, and soak in the salty magic of the Oregon Coast. Before you get too comfy with a beach blanket and a glass of wine, let’s go over a few helpful guidelines so we can keep the good vibes going (and avoid angry HOA glares or $250 surprises). Lock It In (a.k.a. Finalizing Your Booking) Before your reservation is officially official, we ask that you complete a super-quick 3-minute guest verification through our secure Autohost portal. You’ll need: A government-issued ID The credit card you used to book Why? Because we’re serious about keeping our guests safe and our house standing. It also saves everyone from the joy of a security deposit. Let’s Make It Magical Tell us what you’re excited about! Whether you're here to hunt for agates, nap for 72 hours straight, or become one with the clam beds—we’d love to know. We’re not psychic (yet), but we do like to make your stay extra special. House Rules (Mermaid Edition) Let’s keep things smooth and salty (but never salty in that way): Minimum age to book: 25 (we love the young at heart, but not for booking rights) Max occupancy: 10 guests, including the littles Parking: Up to 4 cars in the driveway only City of Seaside says NO to street parking. Not even a “just unloading” moment. Not even if you're “just gonna be 2 seconds.” Quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM You can whisper laugh about that bonfire story, but please no karaoke battles after dark No parties or events unless approved ahead of time No pets – Our kids have allergies and the deer here are dramatic Shoes off indoors – You’re on mermaid time now. Flip-flops optional, bare feet encouraged Outdoor security cameras are rolling at all the main spots: doors, driveway, and trash area. There are no cameras inside, because ew, obviously. Smoking – Let’s Keep It Fresh Smoking is a hard no—anywhere on or around the property. That means no porch puffs, no driveway drags, no "just one by the car." It’s a permit thing, a cleanliness thing, and a we-like-our-house-not-smelling-like-an-ashtray thing. Vaping? Slightly different, but still a “take it off-property” situation. Why? Because when you hang out to vape—especially at night—it tends to come with loud doors, chirping key fobs, and fog-machine vibes that make neighbors assume we’re running a backstage tour bus. We’re not. So go for a beach stroll and enjoy the misty marine layer instead. It’s like vaping, but way more photogenic. Special Occasions Planning a birthday, reunion, or family talent show? We love a good celebration. Just let us know at booking so we can approve it and make sure your big day doesn’t turn into a big fine. Before You Flee to Reality... We hate to say goodbye too, but when it’s time to go, a few quick favors help us flip the house mermaid-fast: Toss used towels, beach towels, and blankets into the laundry Start the dishwasher (don’t forget the coffee mugs you hid in 3 different places) Clean the grill & empty the grease trap (supplies live on the grill cart) Clear out your fridge/freezer treasures Recycle right—we labeled stuff so you don’t have to guess Return all games, sports gear, beach toys, and general chaos to where you found it Shake out sandy toys and rinse ‘em off (trash any broken ones and tell us what to replace—we got you) Serious Business We’re only able to share this home with you because of our Clatsop County permit and good standing with our neighbors. Breaking the rules puts everything at risk. Fines: $250 per rule broken. That’s per day, per rule, per yikes. Eviction: Yes, we absolutely will ask you to leave if things go sideways. No refund. Liability: If your actions cause neighbor drama or threaten our permit, you’re on the hook for any fallout—financial or otherwise.
