The breakfast was always fresh and presented well. Good quality and extensive meal choices. Staff all very pleasant and polite. My car was very safe in the covered car park belonging to the hotel.

Misleading information from staff ruined what should have been a simple experience. We were told at reception that our voucher could be used for afternoon tea, then showed it again in the lounge before ordering and were seated without issue. Only at payment were we told it didn’t apply and charged full price, which feels completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, there were no towels in the room when we needed them, and the room was unbearably hot with no proper way to cool it. Overall, poor communication and basic standards not being met — wouldn’t stay again.

Just back from a three night stay in this lovely hotel. We chose Palm Court because of its location and its residents car park, this is a covered car park a just round the corner from the main entrance. Check in was quick and simple. Our room (No 31) was very nice, it was on the corner of the building with windows overlooking the front of the hotel and the multi story car park to the side. We had a very comfortable king size bed and the room was spotlessly clean. There was a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets ( replaced daily). The bathroom was a bit cramped but had everything we needed, it was well laid out with an over the bath shower. Shower gel and shampoo was provided. We were very happy with our room, if I was to find a very minor fault it would be the lack of a USB outlet, not a major issue as we took an adapter. Breakfasts taken in the restaurant were excellent with a self service section for fruit juices, cereals etc end waiter service for cooked items. The breakfast menu contained a very good choice , the Yorkshire breakfast was excellent, (sausages exceptional). We had a very good dinner in the restaurant, the food and service were excellent. There is also an excellent range of snacks and meals also available in The Lounge . On checking in you are issued vouchers which give a discount on food bought in the restaurant and lounge. We found all staff at the hotel extremely pleasant and helpful. Would we book here again, absolutely yes.

Theatre trip

Great hotel very close to the core entertainment and city experiences. Great of you are going to the theatre. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Parking was included in a private car park 50yds round the corner which was open all day and I believe secured overnight. Very handy as Scarborough is a pain to park in.

It is the ideal venue for a 'traditional' seaside holiday stay, particularly for the 'older' guest (like us). Although it is not the most up to date, that is part of the attraction, and the service is impeccable.

Hotel rooms were, perhaps, typical of an older hotel, decorations a bit tired - as were carpets - but adequate. Our first room had a large stain on the bathroom ceiling which the staff identified and arranged our move to a bigger and better room. This really impressed us because it didn't require any complaining from us. Quite how it should be. All in all the staff were excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. We would certainly visit again.
