This property is absolutely amazing. If you are not looking for a five star experience and you don't mind accommodations a bit dated, this place is for you. When we first arrived, I was a bit disappointed but after 5 days the resort grows on you. Its the perfect getaway if you want to getaway.

Definitely the best bang for your buck!! Obviously not the fanciest place but it truly was pretty great. The facility is older but they do a great job keeping up with maintenance and an amazing job keeping it clean. The staff is amazing!! So kind and def there to help. Food was a little repetitive but even though we are pretty picky eaters we were able to find something at the buffet at every meal. I would def visit again.

Mi experiencia en el hotel whala! boca chica fue mixta. El personal del lobby fue amable y la llegada estuvo bien. Sin embargo, algunas de las habitaciones están deterioradas, el agua tenía mal olor y se iba la luz constantemente. Además, vimos cucarachas en el área de la barra, y en el exterior donde nos sentamos lo cual fue muy desagradable. Destaco el excelente servicio de Miguelina en el restaurante mexicano y la atención de Verónica, ambas muy atentas. El hotel tiene buen personal a pocos minutos de la capital, la playa es hermosa las bebidas no hay mucha variedad y la comida la pueden mejorar, pero necesita urgente mejorar mucho en mantenimiento e higiene. Favor de fumigar contra las plagas.

The beachfront location and views are definitely the highlight of this hotel. The balcony and ocean breeze made for a relaxing atmosphere, and the bed was very comfortable. That said, the property itself feels dated and in need of better upkeep. There were maintenance issues in the room, including a leaking ceiling during rain and a fire alarm that chirped for multiple days before being removed. The food was hit or miss—breakfast was decent, but other meals lacked variety and quality. Some aspects of the setup, like towel access and general convenience, could also be improved. While the staff were courteous, the overall experience felt inconsistent. With some upgrades and better attention to detail, this could be a much better stay.

The food was not fresh during my stay — it was cold every day, had no taste, and unfortunately made me sick. I was not the only one experiencing this; many other guests were also complaining about getting sick and constantly needing to use the bathroom. While the staff were friendly and helpful, the property itself needs significant maintenance. My bed was broken, and the air conditioning in the room was not working properly. It was leaking water inside the room, creating puddles, and it remained very hot and uncomfortable. Additionally, there was no air conditioning in the check-in area, which made the arrival process very uncomfortable as well. Overall, the staff are great, but the food quality and maintenance issues seriously affected my stay.

If you’re looking for a good time and relaxation then this is your place. The beach is beautiful. Ocean water is clear blue. Food and drinks are limited. They give you a list of drinks to choice from anything else is extra. There are only two restaurants, not three. One restaurant is a buffet and the other restaurant is reservation only with a limited menu. The pools are small and there isn't a pool bar as advertised. The beds are very comfortable, however the rooms are not as nice as the ones advertised on the website. All and all I had a great time. Met a lot of great people but my next trip to DR i will go back to Punta Cana or La Ramana.

Food is 2/5, very bland and sometimes warm not hot. But lots of choices I will say and food throughout the day. drinks are basically juice with liquor. Staff is great and try their best to help. Beaches are clean and amazing you do have loungers you can use and two pools as well. One big with different feet levels and one just 4 feet all around.

The first 24 hours we were there, we were locked out of our room 4 times with one of those lasting an hour waiting on maintenance to come let us in. We tried to explain it had to be the battery in the lock but it wasn’t until the following day they agreed. There are no elevators. We were placed on the fourth floor despite having a baby in a stroller. You cannot have soda until after lunch so you can only have juice or coffee with breakfast. Bars open at 10. Lots of pushy vendors on the beach. Overall the stay was good for the money and sake of visiting a different area.
