I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel in Belize. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of—they were consistently attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. The owner was just as amazing, which really shows in the overall atmosphere of the property. Everything felt intentional, peaceful, and well thought out. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking to truly relax, unwind, and disconnect. The food was excellent across the board—every meal was flavorful and satisfying—and the drinks were just as good. Whether you’re dining or just enjoying the ambiance, the entire experience feels elevated but still comfortable. A special thank you to David, the manager, who was incredibly attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly during my stay. That level of care really stood out. I stayed in the spa room, which was a great choice. It added an extra layer of comfort and relaxation to the trip, and I would definitely recommend it. Overall, I had a fantastic time and would absolutely return. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing service, great food, and a relaxing vibe, this is the place!! We stayed for a week in early March and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. For our first trip to Belize, we wanted a place to relax and be near the water. Playa De Sala was exactly what we were looking for: someplace a bit out of the way and adults only. The hotel is at the south end of Ambergris Caye, about a half hour from San Pedro by golf cart. It has its own bar and kitchen, which was great for times when we did not feel like traveling into town. The meals were delicious. But there are also some other nice places nearby, like Someplace South Cafe. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly welcoming from the moment that we arrived, including the owner, Forest Sala, and all the staff, David, Melissa, Kevin, Ivan, Carlos, and others. We booked most of our excursions ourselves, but the team at Playa De Sala were always available to assist with any questions or requests and were very accommodating. As a female couple traveling, we felt very comfortable and well cared for. The Stone Room was plenty of space for the two of us, especially since we spent most of our time outside, on the dock, on the balcony, or at the bar, when we were at the hotel. The hotel has kayaks and SUPs available for guests to use, and there is a lot of wildlife to enjoy seeing in the area, especially different varieties of birds. If you like to be off the beaten path but have a well-made cocktail close by, Playa De Sala is for you. We loved it there.

A comfortable and peaceful property on a surprisingly busy island. We enjoyed the beautiful views of a quiet cove, the use of a kayak, luxurious bedding, excellent shower, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. We arranged for a wonderful private snorkel trip with Captain Carlos, who picked us up in his boat at the dock at the hotel. The town center of San Pedro was very hectic and busy—not the Isla Bonita we had hoped for. So it was great to stay at the quiet south end. Fantastic bird sightings at lagoon near the property.

The resort was beautiful. The food was prepared beautifully and was delicious. The staff went above and beyond. We felt at home. We got food poisoning on day 4 (not from the resort) and the whole staff took care of us. From our pick up at the airport to transportation to the water taxi to the golf cart rental and extension….everything was taken care of. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you Playe de sala. You made Belize magnificent. Highly recommend!

My recent stay at Playa de Sala was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service was exceptional across the board. Princess and Ange at the bar were incredible—friendly, attentive, and always ready with creative drink suggestions. I never had to wait for a drink, and their mixology ideas made every evening special. The kitchen team was equally outstanding. Karna and Melissa prepared everything to perfection, from the mouthwatering surf and turf to the crispy shrimp tempura and the delicious breakfast served every morning. Every meal felt like it was crafted with care. My room was spotless every day thanks to Ellia , who not only kept everything perfectly clean but also checked in to make sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay. Playa de Sala is the ideal place for a relaxing, memorable vacation. I’m already looking forward to returning!

The hotel was fantastic if you are looking for secluded and peaceful. The chefs were amazing, the blackened catch of the day and watermelon salad were the best. If you are going to stay here you need to rent a golf cart, it’s about 25 minutes to town on a bumpy road. Staff was great, food was great, only downside was the distance from town which I didn’t realize would take so long.
